Re: what is this sign/plaque

Looks like the US Army 3rd Infantry Division insignia (subdued colors).

Re: Full service time

Hi SNP, Are you in Scotland by any chance (judging from your username... )? For engine oil, the manual states 6.5 liter of 10W30. For our vintage of petrol engines, I would go for some specialist zinc-rich classic car oil. Millers OIls (UK-made) have their "Pistoneeze" range whic...

Re: Fat Fab/Klugewerks Disk Brakes kits return

Hi all, I haven't posted in a while as I moved from Switzerland to Scotland in late 2018, and then my Pinz was in storage until earlier this year, so it receivied minimal attention and was not being driven. I now have a garage for it near our new home, and the Pinz is due some maintenance, new front...

Re: Pinz Salvation

I'm located in Imperial County and I actually know at least 1 other 710m owner but I'm not sure if he still lives in San Diego County. I "bumped" into a 710M owner in Borrego Springs during my last trip there in 2016, I *think* his handle here is "Borregopaul" (member's last act...

Re: Horn Mounting

I mounted mine in place of the convoy light, so it faces directly the hole in the front grille. I had to build (big word for the work involved) a small "adapter" from a small flat piece of steel to get the correct height. No need to touch the electric wiring as it is just next to the origi...

Re: Ignition key stuck

I can stick a screw driver, or any flat metal to use as a key unfortunately. Rumor in the Swiss Army was (never seen it tested) that if you were stuck in the middle of nowhere with no key but had to start the truck, the bottle opener part of every soldier's knife would do the trick. So your situati...

Hi Vince,
FYI user "whitesik" (Keith) recently expressed interest for such brackets in another thread.

Re: What is this tray for?

As a command Vehicle, 2 radios are necessary one to communicate with the Operations center on one frequency, and another for the actual units in the field. Third radio is Rx only. You kind'a don't want everyone out there on a particular channel talking back to central command. This is why non-comma...

Re: What is this tray for?

Jan, I am somewhat bringing my 710K back to original form though adding some up to date accessories as well. Our part suppliers, SAV and EI, lack many of the small parts; things like the shelf straps, front antenna brackets, table supports, etc. Do you have access to those in Switzerland? Keith Hi ...

Re: What is this tray for?

Thanks for the Facebook link, rmel! I was looking for it but could not remember where it was... I think I first saw it through the yahoo group... The one thing I never completely understood is why the two radios (three if you include the receiver between them) were mounted on a frame with all 5 elem...

Re: What is this tray for?

You're welcome! I started by typing a post in the line of "I don't remember it that well but it isn't the snow chains", and then I found the link to the document. It's quite a nice trip down memory lane for me, to find this. I'm just marginally more comfortable with German than you are, co...

Re: What is this tray for?

The original purpose of the tray was not to hold the snow chains (they were going, I believe, together with the tool pouch in the compartment below the rear passenger seats, which replaces the "battery box twin" tool box on a 710M). The rear compartment of the Swiss Army 710K was entirely ...

Re: My new Puch G

Points scored for originality... and that's it.

I especially like the lights in the side bars, begging for the first gravel to come from the wheels to break them...

Also, the lights above the windshield, shown in the "map reading" position
