Yes, your right Firestone did "take" the blame. Honestly the whole explorer things was kinda Bull S%#& and ford should have accepted the blame. A more relavent truck issue would be the Isuzu TrooperII. It was well know for rolling over and even killing passengers at almost any speed, b...

I have 34" swampers on my 712M. It can hit 70 on flat ground. Now, as far as I know it still has the 712 t-case. Are you limited to 55 because of power or from bad feelings at high RPM

Hmm, How many countless people have died in Ford explorers in the last X number of years. They are still considered safe by the general public. I personally have lost friends due to offroad vehicle misshaps on the highway. Doesent mean offroad trucks are unsafe. I also watched from 5 ft away, a tors...

Disagree all you want, it doesent change the facts. One side note is I am running 34" tall tires. I have locked up all 6 going 65MPH due to a wreck ahead of me, it was very easy to handle. One thing to understand is i regulary drive far less stable trucks like a coilover sprung 404 unimog with ...

This was something I was wondering about too. My 712 is almost sitting on the bumpstops up front. I was considering using rover coils as they seem to be the same inside diameter. I can get many different spring rates and lengths in the rover world, vs the factory pinz springs. But what is the going ...

Hmm, that makes since. Do you know the protection value of the fuse bridge. Is it redundent or needed. I'm to lazy to go through the wiring diagram if you know off hand.

Resistor and fuse pack jumper plug

OMG who thought this was a good idea. I either need to replace or make a new one of these things. It's the little connector under the dash that has several resistors on the back side and a few little bridge fuses inside. One of the resistors broke which isent a big deal but the little fuse bridge al...

Not like it's not easy to mix it up. Hard to beleive they went to such extents to retain the front end cosmetics just for the brakes. Especially since unimogs have been using remote boosters since the same general time period

Jim you have your resevoirs mixed up. The one deep in the dash is clutch and the one closest to the door connected to the booster is the brake res

The typical ballast resistor looks like a metal tin of skoal/chewing tobacco. It's even almost the same size. Inside they have a ceramic element with a resistive wire that looks like a spring wrapped around it. [/list]

It's likely the flasher relay or the ballast resistor. To verify, check for a wiring schematic on the top of the relay case. If no schematic, but instead a thumb screw then you are looking at the ballast resistor. It's kinda hard to judge by your placement description. And by description it sounds n...

MAke sure both chokes are closing fully. Also check for fouled plugs. And if you have a civilian plug conversion, check your plug wires. Just one cylinder acting up can cause your problems.

Do not get a single wrench that has a broad range of 10- 250. They are not accurate enough at the lower ends. You should have at least 2 wrenches to cover this range.

I use snap on torque wrenches and torque meters. They have been flawless for far to many years to remember. Worth every penny in the long run.
