Re: Volvo C303 - uneven braking

Brake servos should be effecting front to back, not side to side.

Possible the mech didn’t understand the bleeding procedure for the front and back interconnected lines. Each back wheel brake activates one of the wheel cylinders on the opposite front tire.

Engine wanted

Does anyone have a decent condition B30 sitting around as a paperweight? I am trying to source one for a project truck. Just needs to be rebuildable, no accessories etc needed. Just block and head pretty much.

Re: amp regulator?

Had mine built custom from a Delco core. It's a standard off the shelf casing that can be found all over. My alt shop converted it to 24V. Alt has been working very well so far, I am very happy with the swap. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c93/dokatd/354A81EE-C8E3-4540-B9EA-16CB7430FA41.jpg http:...

Re: Need new 24v alternator - URGENT

My suggestion i of the new alt is one guaranteed fix for both items. Since the owner does not seem like he is ready to properly diagnose the issue and now he is 2900mi away. He could get a new 1wire alt, fly back to the truck and drive it home. Rather than order and instal a new regulator only to fi...

Re: Need new 24v alternator - URGENT

Simple one wire for 24V available at any decent alternator shop. Less than $200 refurb and gets rid of the suspect external regulator. Direct bolt in and only requires connecting the larger power lead http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c93/dokatd/2A83F1C7-7BC0-43AE-946E-640FBF8633EE.jpg http://i25.ph...

Re: Need new 24v alternator - URGENT

If the problem is the alternator then you can take it into most alt/starter shops and have it repaired. Or you can have a 24V one wire built in a day or so like I did so I wouldn't have to deal with it anymore.

Re: Front Axle Questions

Check out Tatanka parts for the SS brake lines. I usually get my own made but theirs are really a decent price.

Re: CV Boot Question

I installed a Tatanka CV boot in my brothers truck several weeks ago. It was good quality and has been working well with several hundred miles on it now. They have Tatanka molded into the boot to identify it.

Re: LED headlights

Depends on how you define knock off. Really it's more likely that truck light is buying these from an Asian source who is also selling them under a generic brand as well. The EBay units may be a bit lighter plastic etc, but I would bet they are molded in the same factory.

Re: Shock absorbers

I do not have the part number, but rancho has great catalogues on their site so that you can quickly and easily find the correct part number based on external dimensions. Most of them use the same calving ratio so that's not really a significant concern. A note though, ever since ranch departed from...

Re: Fuel Injection Patton style

That's what I was afraid of, changes in the GM ECM depending on whatever reason. Looks like I'm stuck with waiting till I get mine to know what to order. Have you ever had a look at the ECM addons from DynamicEFI? It seems to bring new features (such as bigger maps) to the GM ECM and especially fla...

Burner2 was on the short list (if no universal burner could be used). With such an adaptor? http://www.moates.net/gp1-package-gm-adapter-with-2-chips-p-41.html Or that kind? http://www.moates.net/gx-switching-adapter-for-28pin-sockets-p-87.html http://www.moates.net/g2x-tbitype-switching-adapter-p-...

I would get the Burner 2 from Moates. You will need a universal chip to reprogram unless you want to buy a UV eraser so you can use factory chips. I am also using a zif socket so I can swap chips easily and quickly.

Re: Fuel Injection Patton style

Rick said he could not modify a C303 genuine distributor (Bosch-based and not Lucas-based), I'll double check that with him. I do not recall, but I could have sworn he offered when i originally bought my kit. I have to dig a bit more about that coax... The IAC is not mandatory, as far as I remember...
