Re: My awesome 710K air conditioning installation.
Since AC installation, Pinz has gone from Atlanta to Denver, Salt Lake, Las Vegas, LAX, Phoenix, Albuquerque and back to Atlanta. AC works like a charm. Does not cool off the cabin per se but makes a significant difference and everybody is happy with a cool jet on them and windows closed. Can't thin...

Re: 710K failed emissions
Do you know what jets you are running? Assuming all cylinders are running, I would start by knowing the jets you have. There are two sets, one was usually installed in the low emissions configuration. If you have the rich set, even with all running you may not pass. Just a guess, I don't know how th...

Re: My awesome 710K air conditioning installation.
It has been a great year for my AC installation. Works fantastic, engine power is not a factor at all. (It is underpowered with or without the compressor on!  ) I cannot think of a better way of installing AC in a 710K. I just need to work on insulation now. Cheers, JC with Pinz i...

Re: Speedo Repair
Excellent! Mine works but is not accurate, both from wheel size change and from a previous repair. Trip does not work either... I think I am giving up. Must chose the projects.

Re: Fire coming out of tail pipe
Change clamps to t-bolt full radius type. I find that these work best. Never weld any couplings to header pipes. It complicates future repairs. Totally agree with Jim. When I meant welding, I was referring to the flexible adaptors to the plates bolted to the heater side. And good clamps are a must ...

Re: Fire coming out of tail pipe
The ideal solution is a true flexible connection between the manifold and the heater intake. SAV sells a kit, quite expensive, but looks good. I have not tried it as I find it quite expensive. I welded two short flexible connections bought at the local store and I believe they are too rigid. No clam...

Re: Fire coming out of tail pipe
The idle screws make a small difference, but I run into a dead power zone between 1000 and 1500 rpm. I believe this is due to small vacuum leaks. The last one I found was from the gaskets of the choke plates.
Smoking the manifold and carbs to look for leaks is very important.

Re: Fire coming out of tail pipe
Mine does it all the time. The bangs a are quite loud too. The problem is that air is coming in somewhere near the exhaust manifold and unburnt gas from the idle jets/idle screws re-ignites down the exhaust. I have not been able to lean it enough to avoid it, but if I fix all holes in the exhaust sy...

Re: Breathers for gear boxes, '72 710M
I have a leak in my front differential. Had to add oil. I opened the control plug first and was surprised about how much air came out. It was definitely pressurized by the temperature. It was a hot day and I was running highway speeds. Now I know my 75 710K front diff is NOT vented! With or without ...

Help with axles in Utah
Hello All,
Anyone in Utah or near SLC that could help with a place and possibly some tools (although I have almost everything onboard) to replace the axle seals on my differentials?
I am on the road and two of my boots are leaking, one pretty bad.
Thank you,

Re: Steering box seal.
Albert, I think he means the seal by the Pitman arm, the one sticking out of the body. I just changed mine from under the truck, without removing the steering gearbox.Hotzenplotz wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2019 2:52 pm No way mate.
Getting the steering out is less than an hour
Maybe you are thinking about the o-ring seal?
Cheers,

Re: Engine bogging
Original fuel pumps work great. If changing a working mechanical pump for an electric pump solves your problem, you are actually only disguising it. The Austrian engineers did it right. Going electric is a poor option, non-elegant, complicated, expensive, probably more dangerous, and will prevent yo...
