Re: Camp Pendleton Toys for Tots Event

Bruce, good job. I'll be there with my 73 710K, still pretty much stock in OD. I've done a bit of hunting and camping on base using the Pinz, and can tell you the young Marines and kids get a big kick out of seeing these vehicles, judging by the thumbs-ups. Dave, I would suggest calling the event or...

Re: Pinz Gear Reduction Starters - Interest?

Winter- at risk of asking a really stupid question, and/or revealing my ignorance- can you elaborate- on use of starter motor for steep ascents - are you saying the starter motor can move the truck, uphill, or serve as another form of engine braking, downhill, without engine power, and is this a des...

Re: Speed upgrades?

Yup- you need to go for a ride, and decide for yourself if giving up 80MPH air conditioned quiet comfort is worth what you get in a Pinz.

See http://ultimategarages.net/garages/bob_lutz_garage.html
for advice by a knowledgeable car guy and well known Pinz owner.

Re: If I were doing the lights on a weather vehicle........

You tricky guy you... 1. Those lights must suck down a lot of power- how did you wire that? 2. That sliding sun-roof hatch is so cool- how did you/they fab that? 3. And just for geeky question purposes- exactly what IS the white thing in front of the GPS/mike/taser charging unit-whatchamacalli...

Re: New THOR Movie Trailer

I just saw the movie in Hawaii while we were there. The 710K is shown repeatedly and for quite a while. This might be a good tie-in for anyone with a 710K who wants to sell it--they may also fetch better prices now because of this. I also saw several 712m Pinzgauers at Kualoa Ranch where they use t...

Re: New THOR Movie Trailer

I took a few screenshot captures from the Yahoo Movie trailers, but can't seem to get them resized for here, properly-... I'd be interested in better pics after the movie comes out (if anyone has access), and/or any info on the various gear and the work that went into getting the trucks ready...

Re: Mufflers.....again

While I'm posting thought I would ask. Does anyone have a brand or a stock number for a muffler they had replaced recently. I searched and found the SDP pictures and the info on the IMCO CM35 muffler, but when I go to the IMCO website it doesn't appear they use that number anymore. My 712 has an ap...

Re: In snow, chains, how necessary on 712?

The coefficient of sliding friction is much less than the coefficient of rolling friction. Don't use the lockers unless you are getting wheel spin. We found this out in the late sixties when positrack differentials came out for both front and rear axles. I lived in Bridgeport, CA (elevation 6468) a...

Hi Krick3tt- thanks for the pix- question, for anyone - I read some comments elsewhere about some cautions- sounds like once the up front confusion was worked out, this was a win-win Anyone care to share what they were paid by the promoters, and what the cost of decals was, and cost/efffort to remov...
