Re: 710K Hard top removal

I,m .coming in a bit late here...just doing mine...all come off OK...my nuts above the screen were all stainless and not one was seized, plus every year I have owned it I have sprayed all of these nuts with WD 40 or alike, because I knew I would have to do it one day. I don't have extensive rust any...

710K (71) roof and hoops rust.

Has anyone else had the top of their 710K detach itself from the frames and begin to surface rust in those parts.....It looks like I will have to drill out all the spot welds and take off the top skin ?? to fix this problem...or is there any easier way? I see that the top is glued to the roof hoops....

https://youtu.be/fr7hVQ-yrJI I suspect it is more likely they copied this Commer (UK Chrysler) van, when they styled the UAZ 452 as well as my Pinz and Mog I also have a UAZ 469b......see the you tube vids, not complicated and suprisingly good off road, usually compared with 1970's Jeeps because it ...

This lovely old thread......I thought it was time to add something to revive it. Nigel is right........the Mercedes Diesel that he put in my 710K, (OM602) along with it,s gearbox, (it came out of a UK spec Mercedes sprinter 110D is absolutely fine......economy is great, but it is a slow plodding thi...

Re: Weird SUV thing at car lot

The MXT is a great concept.....I hope it is making money for the people who thought of it.......a pickup or SUV on a truck chassis......No not a pickup truck chassis...a real (lighter end) commercial truck chassis. Now I don,t give out good ideas like this often, but if there is a market for the MXT...

Re: REAL tires

I read somewhere that should the Shuttle have needed to make an emergency landing in the area of Europe there was actually only one runway that could have taken the beast safely. That was RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire......it was long because that was where they did the initial testing of Concorde...

You are legally allowed to use a lot of litres of cooking oil a year, you just need to keep records (UK) it is enough to make it worth it. Google it you would be surprised how much. But here are my experiences with cooking oil. First of all I used to run Landrovers, Diesel Landrovers...They would ru...

Re: 1990 Iveco Unic

I don,t think it is a 'swivel frame' as such, it is simply engineered to be particularly bendy, thus keeping the wheels on the ground and improving traction, the downside is it can,t carry a lot of weight. A bendy frame is by definition going to be weaker than a big solid double flitched frame. Way ...

Re: 716/718 with Steyr Diesel

I have owned and driven, weekly if not daily, (20kms yesterday) a 1971 Pinz 710K that was converted by 'The pinzmeister'.........It uses, for simplicity and longevity, the OM602 5 cyl 2.4ltr normally aspirated engine.......Bad points, enormously big and heavy lump of metal, sloooow (90hp ???) (It al...

I remember a lot of 6 wheeled minis back in the day.......minis have a rear subframe so you just add a second subframe and extend your body......there were stronger/lower/taller cones available for rallying and that kind of thing.

Re: Is a Battery Equalizer recommended dual batt 24v system?

Just my experience......I ran my Pinz with no problems for the first 5 years with the batteries that came when I bought it........then I changed one of the batteries due to it showing less voltage that the other consistently and starting became harder......I used any old big battery that I had layin...
