Unfortunately I remain "Pinzless" and the only crazy I knew has sold his 712. A real bummer cause he could have taken you on a few of the back roads (has the key connections) and he never holds back. Amazing what can be done using a tree as a pivot point, along with selective use of the lo...

Borrowed Information

Adds detail and is from a solid source (i.e, not me . . .): To define the 2 batteries. First you have the "upper" battery that has the Pinz positive (+) cable to it. The "lower" battery has it's positive connected to the negative (-) side of the upper battery and it's negative si...

I gues the winch cable snapped and it came through the window of the jeep. Has a pretty good dvd out (http://www.4x4books.com/howto.htm) that covers this topic. Will need to re-think not replacing the wire cable on the new winch. Bill endorses Amsteel Blue and this is one reason why . . . But wow a...

Would something like this work?

Dust Deflectors
Alloy Deflector

Though guess that how much air "flows" over the top of a Pinz is debatable . . .

Docking Station

I use a docking station mounted on a swivel/tilt mount. My Wife / navigator can setup a route or waypoint and rotate the screen so that I can easily see it. That's a nice mount for the Toughbook - is it something you made or was it bought and modified for the Pinz? Is it just attached to the grab b...

Surfboard/Kayak Racks for a 710M?

Actually for paddleboards (12 - 14 feet) and a surfski (21 feet) . . . Any ideas on a good rack set up. Would prefer removable since I'm guessing I will have only an inch or so of clearance in the garage (this would make a permanent rack attached to the rub rails a no go). Thanks for your thoughts!

If you get stuck or

need a mechanic - call John Martin at HAWAIIAN DESIGNS (ph 235-5197). Maybe if you buy a canoe  he will share the name and number of his mechanic (who makes house calls!) . . .

You two are an inspiration! Was just going to take a straight shot from AZ to LA when I pick up my truck. Now I'm sold on going up to the Grand Canyon and Zion, down and over to Death Valley, up to Yosemite, and then to Oakland via Vallejo. Thanks for the reminder that life is short - eat dessert fi...

Others, who know what they are talking about, will provide a better answer but this set up looks pretty nice: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pinzgauer/photos/album/1697618186/pic/241909583/view?picmode=&mode=tn&order=ordinal&start=1&count=20&dir=asc What caused you to pick a compr...

Well that would work except my Pinz (or pieces thereof) is in Arizona and I was sitting in Honolulu looking at a mini-lathe that needed to be put back together. Needed some inspiration to get this task done and thought  - curly koa shift knobs . . . And hence my inquiry. Well that and I was al...
