712 AMB-S Corrosion on Drivers Compartment

I am purchasing my 712 AMB-S next month and looked at it last week. I noticed corrosion on it and two others in the same location. On the LHS, behind the driver, forward of the rear partition, at the joint between the outer wall and the floor (spot welded I suspect), just below the heater blanking p...

Mike,
Congrats! Mine will be ready for pick-up end of April...I don't want my maiden voyage (1250km road trip from Montreal to Halifax) to be in the cold or a snow storm. I am already getting a fibreglass top for the cab and a nice winch bumper... So you will have yours first.

Spare Tire Mounting on Winch Bumper Stinger

Has anyone contmplated mounting a spare tire on a forward leaning stinger of a winch bumper. Much like Phil Tupelu's design: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pinzgauer/photos/album/1969627091/pic/2127596988/view?picmode=&mode=tn&order=ordinal&start=1&count=20&dir=asc The question wo...

Sources for Hub Steps

Looking for Hub Steps for my soon to be adopted 712AMB-S. Are there any recommended sources. I am looking for quality units, preferably powder coated.

All suggestions accepted.

Thanks

So is your shelter an ambulance, or a workshop? It is interesting that you have a roof rack...is it from the military, or was it added once the unit entered civil use?

Just curious. Thanks

1982 712 AMB-S is soon to be mine

I have put my money where my mouth is...I have put a deposit down on a 1982 712 AMB-S from Karl at Pinzgauer Canada and will pick the truck up in a couple of months.

Karl is a pleasure to deal with, very knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant.

I can't wait to get behind the wheel. :D

Yours for sure, mine is waiting for me to pick up...truck and all, which probably won't happen until May. Until then sketches and requirements/specification development.

Mike,
Let me guess, is your box is coming from Pinzgauer Canada in Montreal?

More thoughts on Shelter Structure

This is the type of discussion that I was looking for. Mike: No problem adding to the shopping list...more data leads to a better design. I look forward to sharing ideas and experiences with you, once I get my Pinz. Glynn: I like what you did, and would like to see the pics, however, I am also havin...

Structure of 712 AMB-S Shelter

I am contemplating the purchase of a 712 AMB-S for conversion to an expedition camper, and need to get a better appreciation for the construction of the Shelter I understand that the Shelter is a fibreglass inside/outside construction, but beyond that I know little about it. As a minimum I would lik...

In Montreal on a biz trip, and decided to visit Karl at Pinzgauer Canada. The Pinz's are nice. Personally, I have my eyes set on a 712 AMB for conversion to an expedition camper, but the 710s look tempting. I agree with the consensus that Karl is a gentleman, and I look forward to dealing with him.

Pinz Owners in Nova Scotia and/or New Brunswick

I am contemplating adopting a Pinz (712AMB-S) for conversion to an expedition camper and would like to find owners in Canada's Maritime provinces (particularly Nova Scotia and New Brunswick), as I am located outside of Halifax. Before taking the leap, I would like to see a Pinz up close and chat abo...

Looking forward to hearing how things go with Karl. It will help me decide on what dealer to go with (local importer with no local support, Pinzgauer Canada or Outback Imports) when I do the dirty deed next year. Keep us up to date.

From Toronto, it is a five hour road trip to Montreal. You might want to consider flying into Montreal (Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport). Save all your energy for the enjoyable ride back.
