Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

So it was a super hot summer and really busy. The Splitzgauer went into storage last May and only saw a couple visits since. Today we brought it back over to the shop and started getting a plan together for Round two. It still needs a bunch of work. Hopefully by next Spring it will see a couple days...

Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

Today is a big work blast and there has been lots of progress. I will try and get pics of it this weekend. I am not the best at taking pictures and it is kind of jammed in the corner. I am just glad it has a inside parking spot. So anyhow, stay tuned.

Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

This thing is awesome!! I admire your courage to take on a project like this and hope you have the time and budget to get it done by your deadline. The only down side I can see is going to be visibility, especially out the front. How do you see your seating position compared to the pinz? What is th...

Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

How are you going to work out the air intake? Well, I am going to put screen behind the VW emblem. I am a little concerned if this will be enough air flow. But I think it should work. Going 15 mph in 2nd gear up a mountain pass doesn't generate much ram air so my guess is they get a bit of air from...

Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

So there has been a bunch of progress. Not many updates here but... So I got the Passenger Side all fit up. Door gaps are good. I still need to figure out the Treasure Chest Door. So I cut off the drivers side to move the panel back and stretch the front door. Once it was removed I got the inspirati...

Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

There has been some progress on the Splitzgauer project. The pictures are kind of crappy but It is being built in the corner so anyway. Here is a passenger side shot. I got all the door gaps fitting nice. I got the door sizes finalized. The b pillar between the front door and the side door changed s...

Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

Lots of progress made this weekend on the Splitzgauer. We got the side doors fit up and swinging on hinges. We got the door jamb and rock slider all fit up and tacked in. There has been lots of ideas flying around too. I will get some pictures loaded this week. This is going to be a really awesome v...

Re: 710K Additional Side Windows

I would love some company in my build thread. I need some inspiration. Here is the link. It is not a 23 but even I k...

Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

So there has been some more progress. I am starting to get a little overwhelmed. I still have a long way to go. So I worked on the side step area and the steering over the past few days. I have some pics of the side step. The steering pics will be in the next round. I also decided I will be using a ...

Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

So I have said this about 20 times already but last night I really went past the point of no return. I cut the steering shaft to reposition the wheel. It feels great. I moved the wheel forward about seven inches and to the right about three inches. I will be adding a second Splitty speedo pod to the...

Re: My Pinzgauer is undergoing a civilian face lift

I am drooling (not cause I'm old, either) over your project. When I had a 63 VW van I took it places I should not have gone. Got it really stuck many times, broke the drivers door on a big rock. Always wondered why VW did not do 4 wheel drive, I so wanted one. Now I have the pinz and my youthful dr...
