Mjnims, I can't say for other Volvos, but my C303 is exceptionally quiet at stoplights. Even with the engine cover off! It does get louder of course at highway speeds, what with the huge knobby tires and the radiator fan, but it's probably not unlike the noise level encountered with a 2-door Jeep. I...

rdover, The C303 as you probably know has seats for 7 people, plus cargo. The Tgb 1111 has fewer seats and less room for cargo. And while a rag top certainly would be nice in the summer on those hot days, a hard top is more secure and offers more protection for the occupants. I found that on all but...

Johannes, Well, I suppose that as long as you don't significantly exceed the original engine's torque or horsepower with the new engine, there should be no real reason why you couldn't do the swap (not sure why you'd want to, but we all have our own reasons for doing things). I don't know whether or...

Hi Johannes, You know, I've had the same thought. But the more I think about it, the less it seems like a good idea. Since diesels have different power curves, you probably need to also go with a different transmission- not just a different engine. Also, the rest of the running gear was designed spe...

rdover, Why do you want to change the brakes to disk? The stock drum setup works very well (or at least it has for me). In fact, of all the vehicles I've ever owned, the only brakes I've ever had problems with were disk. BTW, if you do change over to disk, be aware that there is a system on the Volv...

Dave, Welcome to the community! You will find the vast majority of the folks on the forum to be helpful, and there is an enormous pool of knowledge and experience right at your fingertips. I've had my Volvo C303 for less than a year, but I can tell you that it has been a fun and rewarding experience...

Hot damn- postings on the Volvo side! Hoo-wee! I've got the tan C303 that Vince last built up, and it's great. Been working on the interior since pretty much everything is done to it exterior wise. Still have a few more instruments to install, and still working on putting up the rest of the headline...

Viola! In my case, it was both the brake pedal overtravel switch and the proportional valve switch. It required resetting both to make the brake lamp go out. Thank you so much! I was going to try the proportional valve switch, but didn't know about the brake pedal overlimit switch. Once again, the F...

Brake fluid reservoir caps
I discovered that Volvo part number 1272107 (product number 236298-001, whatever that means) is a direct replacement for the brake fluid reservoir caps on my 1975 Volvo C303. Ordered two from my local Volvo dealer, and they fit perfectly! These are white in color rather than the original black (at l...

Brake light is staying on
Yesterday I took my Volvo C303 to a shop in town who specializes in Jaguar and Land Rover repair (I figured since the brakes on this thing are Land Rover, they'd be the best place to work on it). I think the only thing actually Rover about the brakes are the shoes themselves- maybe the cylinders, I ...

Jim, A 1963 Mog? Do you still have her? I've always liked the looks of Unimogs. Yes, my C303 is the tan one that Vince just sold (it's the one that had been advertised as for sale on his website). There are some pics of another tan one he built prior to mine, but it apparently didn't have the new bo...

Jim, For what it's worth, before I picked up my C303 I had Vince install the new VDO speedo (and tach)- I assume you're talking about the same speedo. You can re-calibrate it right from the dash, while driving the truck (a good thing, especially when you change tires!). I have to say that I love it-...
