Re: 710/712 Transfer case into 718
Been wondering the opposite for a while now... can a 716/718 transfer case be swapped into a 712, will it bolt up should one want the driveline on the LHS of a 710/712 backbone? This would widen the potential engine choices when considering diesel conversions on petrol Pinzgauers as well as give mor...

Re: New Volvo c304 owner new engine swap/ camp rig project
The weakest point of any steel extension will always be on the Heat Affected Area (welded area) of the Parent metal. This will be the case no matter how strong or thick the central section of the extension.

Re: New Volvo c304 owner new engine swap/ camp rig project
Why did you choose to extend the chassis with right angle welds? Extended chassis should always be welded with curved sections at each end. Curving at the joins makes cracking much less likely as the load stress covers more than double the surface area. Also welds are much more likely to crack along...

Re: Engine temperature sensor - has anyone added one?
Oz is also an exporter...we sell it all to China for a pittance (maybe 3cents per litre?) they process it and sell it back to us for I think around 40 cents per litre...it costs about 65 to 70 cents per litre at the pump. It’s just what we economic democracies do...I don’t understand why we don’t lo...

Re: Engine temperature sensor - has anyone added one?
True on both counts perhaps we should start a new thread and yes the LPG runs much smoother without any stumbles off idle and climbing in low 1 requires almost no throttle control, it just idles up and over most obstacles. But I’m sure your EFI performs in the same way. Have you looked at the LPG in...

6C6AF70F-4365-4D3A-A180-7AF2E43435DA.jpeg Just one more thing...pictured is my old ignition (now comes with as spare). It was by no means a cheap or bad ignition in any way, it’s just that the SSI is far superior by having a strong multi sparked ignition all the fuel is getting burnt on each compre...

Re: Engine temperature sensor - has anyone added one?
RMEL given the minimum octane ratings of LPG Australia is minimum 110 but generally around the 130-140 mark if bought from welding gas suppliers like Supagas or BOC, etc. but 90% of our service stations all have lpg pumps right next to the diesel and petrol. So availability isn’t a problem. Given th...

Re: Engine temperature sensor - has anyone added one?
RMEL I agree with all you pointed out. I should have been more clear about my oil pressure, the “idiot light” as you described it is just that...not a sufficient indicator of ACTUAL oil pressure. I am referring to a VDO dash mounted oil pressure gauge which I use in conjunction with my oil temp gaug...

I'd love a sensor on each cyl. Would help with ton of troubleshooting and carb adjusting. Wonder if there is an inexpensive clamp on system that i could utilize? quote=audiocontr post_id=89103 time=1576777845 user_id=10512] I'd love a sensor on each cyl. Re: Engine temperature sensor - has anyone added one?
When I first installed LPG on my 712 I had a slight concern about cylinder head temps increasing but these concerns were quickly eased when I could see no difference between petrol and LPG. Not really being concerned about melting the heads on my 712k the metallurgical limits aren’t really something...

Re: Engine temperature sensor - has anyone added one?
I must have not clicked the notify me button hence the delay in reply, but if still relevant... My VDO sender is mounted before the oil cooler as I would prefer to know how hot it is getting before the oil is cooled. This being the case I rarely see temps above 55*C to 60*C. The only time I see my o...

Re: My awesome 710K air conditioning installation.
Is that compressor chassis mounted and facing back towards the engine? The compressor mount position looks almost identical to the factory aircon my 712k arrived to Australia with in 1985. If so very consistent belt stretch/screech will be an issue.

500 miles is a very impressive range but without the ability to recharge off grid this doesn’t really represent anything new in the context of an electric expedition vehicle or even a tourer/long distance camper.
For me a truly usable cross country EV must be able to recharge itself off grid.

Its probably an old repurposed "dual controls", truck with the steering column removed, they're often seen on specialised trucks in the rubbish industry or in "sweeper" trucks.
