That's good to hear. Those are really great carbs and once fine tuned they should give you years of good service.

I had some issues with mine not running well, missing out, hard starting. Turned out to be the tired old ignition. Replaced that and it was a huge difference.

Paul - Thanks for the correction - I was in the wrong column. I was thinking about this and we were really lucky in this case that pulley or the belt didn't go back into the fan. Might have been ugly. From what I've heard about fans exploding at speed its nothing I would want to be around. I will be...

Wow 67 nm is just under 50ftlbs. I am looking at the torque specs in the Service Manual annex and it says 6.7 nm which is about 5 ft lbs. :shock: I am not giving you a hard time and I think you may have miss-typed. You set to the belt to the factory recommended torque and the alternator shaft threads stripped? Can you confirm the torque that you used?
