Re: Tips on removing heater?
Is the heater functional? What would it take to retro fit into a M? The blower worked fine, but I assume that there was a fuel delivery issue, or (much more likely) a user error, as I couldn't get the heater to light. I have no idea what it would take to fit it into an M body. I did almost no inves...

Re: Tips on removing heater?
Throwing the baby out with the bath water  ...Why give up the heater for what would be a pretty small volume? Well, I don't really like babies and I usually take showers, so the heater has to go! The heater is of value, but we don't use it to heat the box, it doesn't heat the cab, and while t...

Tips on removing heater?
My wife and I are planning on removing our 712W's heater tomorrow. I did a short search and didn' find any existing threads, so if anyone has any tips, let me know. My big questions are: Where should I cap the fuel lines? Can I cap the brass fitting somehow? Pictures below. Does anyone want a heater...

Re: Using simple battery switch to charge house circuit?
Funny thing with solar panels, you need da Sun  this time of year I get less and less then the cover needs to go on for the rainy season (rainy I hope) -- then out comes the 110V battery charger. Oh man, you're telling me. Actually, I'm thinking my next upgrade might be to make that sun shine...

Re: Using simple battery switch to charge house circuit?
Looking at the specs of the Whynter fridge, it draws almost double what my Engel draws (at 24V, 2.5A vs the Engels 1.5A that I've measured). Assuming that it runs about the same percentage as my Engel, 200W of solar may not be enough to run it indefinitely. So being able to charge from the alternat...

Re: Using simple battery switch to charge house circuit?
Jimm, Rmel, and Ian, Thanks for the advice. Now I'm reconsidering everything about my battery and solar setup plans. Luckily I'm reconsidering before I bought! Never, ever "disconnect" batteries while the engine is running. This means that switching between batteries can be done, but your ...

Using simple battery switch to charge house circuit?
First post! But lurking for a few months since my wife and I bought our 1982 712W. We're on our way to living in it full time. Here's the question: Will I cause undue/unusual harm to the stock alternator by using a simple battery switch to charge a bank of house batteries? I'd like to be able to sta...
