Re: Slow cold starter
OK, took it down to the parts store, and after telling the tale of Pinzgauer I got them to test the batteries.... Sure enough...one was exactly where it should be....the other was 175 out of 900...... yeah...pretty dead. So I replaced just the one since the other was reading where it should be. I'll...

Slow cold starter
Hey all, I'm having a fight with my starter..... So its been a bit cold here in New England for the last few months and my 710K has been hibernating on a battery tender for the last couple months. I decided it was time wake her up. Only a couple cranks and it was up and running as usual. Never had s...

Re: Voltage Surge?
Thanks for the great info! I'll start by replacing the voltage regulator since its a fairly easy and inexpensive job. It looks to be original so its 45 years old at this point and wouldn't surprise me in the least that it needs replacing. I have very thankful that I have the volt meter installed- wi...

Voltage Surge?
Hello All, I'm hoping to get some insight into an electrical gremlin that's popped up recently. I have a Volt-meter gauge installed. It normally reads about 26-28v while running. One day it just pegged up to 38v (as high as it goes). I thought it. might just be the gauge being flakey as it only last...

Re: WTB: 710K Antennas w/ Base
It keeps it pretty cool. I've never measured it, but I'd probably say about 70 degrees. Over the summer it was about 95 out, and I turned it on to cool down the inside before taking off, and it kept it very cool and comfortable for about 20 minutes. The inside of the Pinz is insulated with military ...

Re: WTB: 710K Antennas w/ Base
Hey there, This is an Advent AC135 AC unit. Its a 13500BTU init that runs on 115v shore power. It requires 3000 watts at 15amps. It cools fairly well. It also has an optional heating coil- so I can use electric heat for those cooler nights. I have it tied into a shore power plug on the back. I also ...

Re: WTB: 710K Antennas w/ Base
I got these through a website: http://www.pvtjarhead.com
Pretty reasonable prices. Its the standard 2-part antennas that go with these bases.
I don't have them connected- I'm just using them for the aesthetics.
I'm located in Connecticut in the US.

WTB: Ambulance rear bench seat
Hello, I'm looking for a Pingauer folding bench seat- I think they were in an ambulance originally. Like the M style rear seat but longer. I've attached a pic of what I'm looking for. I'd like to put this in place of the table in my 710K so i can have extra seating as well as a fold down platform fo...

Re: WTB: 710K Antennas w/ Base
Hey guys,
Thanks for all the info. With the right info, I was able to find this guy's website who has all sorts of old military radio equipment at very reasonable prices.

I'm prepping them and getting ready to install.

WTB: 710K Antennas w/ Base
Hello All! I'm looking for a set of Antennas and Bases for my 710K. I have the standard body brackets. I'd like to mount the standard antennas and bases. They would only be cosmetic, so non-functional ones are ok....almost preferable since I'm not wiring them in anyway. Obviously I'd pay shipping. T...

So I ended up finding some stainless flex pipe that fit quite tightly. Parts for these are getting really hard to find.

Synthetic in Portal boxes?
I'v been scrubbing this site and am finding very different opinions about oil that goes in the portal boxes. Some say use whatever you got, some say stay away from synthetic, some say they use synthetic and its great. Some even say the Synthetic makes seals leak is an old myth from the early days of...

Where's my leak?
So I'm doing by seasonal inspection and I'm noticing the back of the rear right portal box is looking a bit wet/oily.
I'm pretty new at this, so I'm unsure where the oil would have come from.
i would think if the portal box was leaking, it wouldn't be on the back of it.
Ideas?
