Re: Spark plug replacement interval
I think it is very good to keep the gap of the spark plug electrodes at the given gap of 0,6 - 0,7 mm. Spark plug gap widens through the time in service and the elctrodes are getting round as well, so they should get shaped from time to time and as long as the engine works fine I don`t replace them ...

Re: Over filled portal gearcase
I have found the same situation on the left side R.A. when I bought my Pinz in 2016, and only half a quart of gear oil left in my rear diff. I am still driving like that, checking oil levels and correcting them if necessary, watching how fast the oil leaks. It seems to be very slow, so I´m not takin...

Re: Number 1 Carb issue.
Very nice to hear that you ´ve got the problem solved and the engine is running smooth as it should - with a smooth running engine the Pinz is very nice to drive.

Re: Number 1 Carb issue.
Hi Buzz! I think that this may be the hole you are talking about. This is the air hole for the starting device. I practically don´t know if it´s affecting the function of the carb, but it definitely shold be closed to the outside. I have added a few pics for explanation as "pdf" files, as ...

Re: Tools for spark plugs
Below is the spark plug spanner that came with my Pinz when I´ve got it from the Austrian Army and it works also on Rehab. Length = 6 1/2 inch.

Re: Jet sizes for a 710/712
There are three versions of this carb type on the Pinz (version1, version 2 and version 3). On my rehab I have version 3 and the engine is running fine as long as no dirt is blocking any by pass holes or jets (the version is shown normally by a tag, fitted to a tightening bolt of the carb cover). I´...

Re: Tools for spark plugs
I will have a look into my Pinz tool bag tomorrow (if I don´t forget) and take a picture of it, but I think to remember that my spark plug tool is not exactly the same as the one in the parts book. I think I have a similar tool and a pin to rotate the tool, but it works o.k.;

Re: Tools for spark plugs
My 710M is a rehab and has those brackets for the safety belts. I have removed all 4 spark plug several times and fopund no problem with it. I guess that my tools are the original tools which came with the pinz from the factory - very simple tools, maybe not all tools in my toolbag are original but ...

Re: Number 1 Carb issue.
Hi Buzz - If the spark plugs nr.1 + 2 are black it could be for many reasons. Spark plugs and the spark itself is sure o.k.? If you suspect the carb, check the post "Whoa is me, truck running poor!" from "Pinzengauer" just two lines under your post. As there are two cylinders wor...

Re: Whoa is me, truck running poor!
Well if the carbs are refurbished, these holes should be clean and open in the right diameter - you don´t have to dismentle the carbs for checking those holes - just take out the four selenoids and if the carbs are monted on the engine, take a mirror and good light and check through the selenoid hol...

Re: Whoa is me, truck running poor!
@Pinzengauer: "does that insulation have to be on there?"
If you mean those insulations with part nr. 712.1.08.007.1 or 712.1.08.525.1, yes, they are necessary to protect the carbs against heat from the engine, as air cooled engines get much hotter than water cooled engines.
