Re: Engine stumbling backfiring ...
After checking the timing be sure to check the 4 solenoid leads 2 going into the drivers side of each carborator. One of mine came slightly loose & my vehicle backfired to the point I had to shut down on two trips. Found the issue after a bit of time troubleshooting. Runs great after tightening...

Re: Replacement Seats
I've used a few different seats over the years on my Pinz's. My favorite for fit and comfort are my current ones. Military surplus (new), possibly MRAP. I was able to modify the original Pinz seat frames to bolt up to the new seats. They're also narrow enough, like the Smartcar seats, to easily fit...

Replacement Seats
What are some of the best replacement seats? I have a bead on some Miata seats but didn't know if those would work well. Anyone ever put miata seats in?

High Water
Don't know if this is the correct forum, but guess since it has to do with ingesting water, it might work. Factory specs show water fording max at 27". Just looking at mine with the doghouse off the other day, it seems that it should at least go to the top of the tires (which are 31 inches for ...

Yes, I definitely agree. Good thing they are super cheap and easy to replace. Going to see how it goes for a bit before I relocate it and permanently mount it. Worse case scenario is I just install the stock style fuel pump that I already ordered and just go with that.

Re: New Owner of a 710M. Looking forward to learning a lot!
Just an update since acquiring my 710M a week and a half ago. Had some issues with it starting consistently and running well. I know that some of this is just the nature of a 50 year old military air-cooled, carbureted vehicle, but it just didn't seem right to me. After several days of starting and ...

Tipping Point
I have been reading through as many of the tech articles as I can. One thing I noticed in the "Old Tech sessions" is there is a thread about how far you can tip sideways without going over. Great information, but almost all of the pictures and/or video links are dead. I figured maybe we ca...

New Owner of a 710M. Looking forward to learning a lot!
Just took possession of a 1974 710M. Have plans to outfit it as an overlander/camping rig as my wife and I enjoy that. For a 50 year old vehicle, it seems to be in very good shape. Went over everywhere I could reach with a spring loaded punch and did not find any soft spots. Even checked the spring ...
