Re: adjusting the hand brake
To pick up on the handbrake switch itself... mine died a few weeks ago. In it's death throes, it would sometimes stick with contacts "made", at other times with contacts "open". After buying a new switch I did an autopsy on the old sealed unit. Moisture had got in via the rubber ...

Re: The new Unimog?
That's got to be a Vomit Brothers production !!! Give me a big stick and I'll kill it ! WHO got paid for "designing" that ??? "Designing" is probably the wrong word.

Re: Steering Box Drain
I quote from the Handbook: "FILLING UP OIL IN THE STEERING BOX" " Remove plastic plug (fig.123/1) and top up with gear oil SAE 80 until oil flows out from the opening. After removing the screw (fig. 123/2) top up this bore too until oil flows out of the opening." An accompanying ...

Re: General Pinz'ing
As stiffler says, just flick the turn signal lever up towards the steering wheel and release it. With the headlights switched on, as well as the blue lamp on the dash, you should hear an audible "clunk" from the relay behind the dash.

Any Pinz owners in/around Newark, DE ??
My son is living in Newark, Delaware for a year or so. He's bitten by the Pinz bug and I was wondering if there are any owners near that neck of the woods he could contact.
Thanks.

Yes Robin. It lights up for the merest moment when you switch on. Blink and you've missed it - quite literally !! Just curious as to what actually happens post 4500 !!

Re: Just installed a tacho/revcounter
Might be an idea now you've got it installed, to briefly notch up the power to 4500rpm. See what happens to that rev overspeed warning light dooferiser thingy on the dashboard ? I've never revved mine that high - yet. Not sure if the light comes on, engine cuts out or the boxing glove on the coiled ...

After reading these posts, I'm going to add a job to the preventative maintenance list..... Every time I take the engine cover/doghouse off, give a good blast of WD-40 or similar to the distributor/engine interface !! IF I ever have to tweak the timing in the future, at least the dizzy should move w...

I actually mean't you (Robin) possibly upsetting the Yanks by saying their beer is poop. Can't comment about their beer, as having never been across the pond. Cunard White Star say their weekly steamer service from Southampton has now stopped !! Go on, tell me..... you can't get a steamer to any par...

Refurbing the cut-off switch is a very satisfying job ! I've done the grand total of TWO now ! Once you've uncrimped the tinwork, it's a straight forward job. Rewarding to get the copper contacts bright again. Dollops of good old Waxoyl in the vital bits. Peen the lip over again. Ding ding... away w...
