Re: Parking Brake Circuit Short ??
Problem solved ! A bad joint had been made sometime in the past which had failed. Joint now crimped with in-line connector. New parking brake switch fitted and adjusted. All back to normal. Thanks again to Paul C. for his suggestion and also to Dale at Haflinger Technik for lightning fast response (...

Re: Parking Brake Circuit Short ??
Many thanks for that suggestion. I never realised that the brake fluid low level indication circuit was allied with the parking brake circuit. Just checked, and the fluid level is normal and connections to the reservoir appear sound. Worth a try and thanks again.

Parking Brake Circuit Short ??
Hi. Parking brake light illuminated continuously. Parking brake mechanically working and releasing normally (everything greased up to the eyeballs !) Removed switch to clean connector, adjust etc. Metered the switch and it's a bit intermittent, so will order a new one. HOWEVER.... with wire to switc...

Re: Locker Switch Operation.
Thanks for replies folks. Only just returned to looking at the beast after an unavoidable delay. Checked all the switches. They work ok. Someone suggested (offline) to check fluid levels in associated boxes - all correct. Since resuming work on it, ALL the locker lamps now fail to illuminate ! Am su...

Locker Switch Operation.
Hi Folks. 2 out of the 4 lights for the lockers fail to illuminate when levers are thrown. Have checked the bulb filaments and connections to the holders. All clean and tight. The feed to the lamp "daisy chain" is live. I'm thinking I might have a couple of "iffy" switches down b...

Re: Length of OEM limit straps?
I bought 4 nylon straps from OK Offroad about 3 years ago for the rear axle of my 712. Very pleased with them. The original straps on the centre axle went twang a couple of weeks ago whilst fording a river that had a hidden hole in the bed, which seemed to equal the depth of the Mariana Trench (?) :...

Many thanks indeed blackstack for your help. Much appreciated! I'm definitely deficient in the volts dept. by the sound of it.

Voltage at coil.
In trying to get to grips with a bigger problem, may I ask a simple question (from a simple soul!)? With the ignition turned on - but not cranking the engine, what should I expect to measure voltagewise twixt the +ve low tension connector on the coil and ground? I'm getting just over NINE volts. Bat...

Re: Alternative Float Level Check - Not Recommended
Hey - brilliant idea ! All you got to do now is drill another hole about half an inch below the one shown. Then fix one of those tiny gauge glasses they have on model boilers. One on each carb. Graduated card behind them. Precise fuel levels at a glance !!! ....... I'm just off to the Patent Office....

Re: Hand throttle-throttle lock...
Many thanks Robin for the rapid responce. I'm somewhat embarassed here. Always check the obvious thing FIRST. Whilst Robin was kindly investigating his hand throttle, I jumped in the cab and tried mine again. (Had previously got gunged up de-greasing the underfloor bit). It just turned and turned et...

Thanks Robin. I'll give that a try later. Might explain why mine never worked at all !

Re: Hand throttle-throttle lock...
To jump in on this thread.... the hand throttle on my current Pinz has never "locked". Pull it up and twist (clockwise) and it just thuds down when you let it go. I haven't poked too deeply into it, but is it an easy fix? Not worth buying a complete new one as I only use it once a month. D...

Re: Fuel Solenoids...
I take the phrase "Sealed for life" as a direct challenge. The solenoid, like most things were assembled. Therfore it can be dis-assembled! The trick of course is to adopt a slow, forensic type probing as you go. Gently does it. Adjusting the size of felling axe and sledge hammer as you pr...
