Exhaust Smell from Heater Vent....
Recently I have noticed an increasingly strong exhaust fume smell when the heat lever is in the down (on) position. Are there any other possibilities other than a bad heat exchanger? If it is the heat exchanger then can it be repaired? Any help would be appreciated

Chain Lengthening
I just had to do this also on mine. I am running the LTB-08 (34x10.5) and had to add two links to each side. The fit is still on the tight side but is doable. One tip, instead of two quick links I used one quick and one actual 1/4" chain link......stronger and cheaper

Tachometer
The VDO tach that Denis recomended is excellent. There are other 24 volt mini tachs available. I found a Isspro on eBay for dirt cheap and it is working very well. There are a few pictures of it installed here on my Pinzgauer photo folder: http://new.photos.yahoo.com/hkg3sg1@sbcglobal.net/album/5764...

Air Filter Life/Capacity
Here is my $0.02 as the design/manufacturer of the OEM air induction system. The Pinz system is designed with a dust holding capacity of ~8000 grams at a 25 Mbar pressure increase. In the AIS design world this is a HUGE amount of dust as it was designed for long service interval being driven in the ...

Pinzgauer Hand Held Spotlight
Hello All, I thought you might be interested in a good eBay find I ran into. A fellow pinz owner has some NOS 24 volt spotlights currently for sale cheap (about $15) on eBay. I bought one to make a hand held light for the Pinz and it turned out great! Here is a link to a photo: http://members.surfbe...

Hello Spence, Good to hear from another Michigan Pinz owner! I agree that it is bearable with the cab divider rolled down, especially if you have insulated the ducts. I would highly discourage blocking the front air intake in the Pinz. As you know this is a air cooled engine and having a good flow o...

Hello John, Mine starts right up. Here is what I do: 1. Warm the chamber by letting the plug fire for about ten seconds 2. Give two quick pumps on the handle 3. While continueing to pump I open the fuel valve 1 turn and wait for the pulses to start. This usually takes 1 or 2 seconds. The key for min...

Swingfire Turbo Heater Installation
Hello All, I thought all you Pinz drivers who live in cold environments make find this interesting: Since it is starting to get cold already here in Michigan I took some time this weekend to do an experiment.....I installed a Swingfire Turbo heater in the back of my 710M. Here are some photos: http:...

Carb Adjustment Question ????
Here one for the carb tuning experts out there! Last night I tuned the 710M and noticed something strange. The problem: The idle mixture on the barrel that feeds cylinder #1 seems to be really rich. All the other mixture screws adjusted as expected around 2 turns out but the #1 screw needed to be se...

New Tachometer....photos.....
I bought a 24 volt Isspro tachometer off eBay recently and got around to installing it tonight. I figured for $15 I couldn't go wrong! The install was simple and went smoothly except I had to make a adapter ring out of plastic to make up the difference between the 2 1/16" body and the stock hol...

Snow stability
Hello Dean, Being in Michigan, I get the opportunity to drive quite a bit in the snow. I can honestly say that only once have I felt particularly unstable in the Pinz and I attribute that time to my own stupidity! All in all I would say the Pinz does pretty well in the snow compared to other vehicle...

MANN Filter Qriginal Equipment Oil Filter
The original equipment MANN Filter is actually the W940/5. The W940/29 that Jim listed is actually a Porshe filter but will mount and work on the Pinz. The OE filter has the wrench attachment on the end to ease service in the field. Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Kind regards, - Stu Miller Manager, Desig...

E-Track Seat Belt Installation
I finally got around to putting seat belts in the back of the Pinz and after talking to Scott at E.I. decided to go with the E-Track solution. He sells the belts already made up with the correct end fittings so all that was needed was to buy the track locally and install. The track ran $16 each and ...
