Ah, two gallons just sitting around certainly makes a compelling reason to ask! As I've said before, the hubs are quite overbuilt so almost any decent lube will be sufficient- meaning that it probably won't HURT, but may not be optimal. Personally, I'd just invest the $$$ for the right stuff. YMMV.

My question is: why would you want to use this lube? Pinz hubs are not hypoid, are not "water cooled", and are generally not expected to have much water ingress. I'm not saying it wouldn't be acceptable, but this seems like a much distant application compared to the plethora of gearbox oil...

The power flows through the fourway flasher switch; cycle that switch a dozen times and see if you get any different results. If you get changing performance, clean or replace the switch.

Oh, and I wired a wireless remote directly to the solenoids in a sealed box mounted to the driver's side of the grill - works great. Still have use of wired hand controller as a backup when plugged onto the winch.

The bearings are not in the tube, they are in the witches hat, and it has seals to prevent leaking into the tube. The witches hat is part of the diffs or transfer case, the bearings get their oil from those reservoirs.

Personally, those overdrive ratios are much too tall for the Pinz - the TD tranny overdrive is 0.747 and it is taller than I feel would be best (I'd love a value closer to 0.80). In fact, an 0.80 external overdrive would allow spitting every gear except 4th (which would virtually match 5th w/o overd...

I have run Valvoline synthetic 75W90 in the hubs for several years with no ill effects. But at some point when it was being serviced by others that was replaced by the "recommended" oil, as specified by Steyr Puch or closest currently available. The long term effects are un-noticable to me...

Awesome! I acquired a much heavier 6m Geroh mast and created a way to hang it off the side of my 712W but it takes two people to move it, it must weigh well over 120 pounds. I've never known what model was actually used and mounted with the Pinzgauers.

I have yet to find what antenna mast was transported in the rings that were mounted on the "hood" of radio trucks. Does anyone know the manufacturer and model of the crank up mast that fit those rings?

How do i find out how low I can deflate for the trail w out finding out the hard way? The "rule of thumb" used to be to measure the bottom of rim to ground distance under street pressure, then deflate to 3/4 of that height. Like most rules of thumb, there is both some good and bad to this...
