Yeah, that one is super nice!
Pinzi,
That doesn’t seem like it would be too bad to accomplish. I like that you kept it machsnical. I would probably have done the same. Well, I suppose I can just file that away...because, who knows?
After Tuesday, it will be off to a new home!
Thanks,
Phil

Re: FOR SALE: 1987 Pinzgauer 718M
Well, I don’t know if the pedigree from the DELTA days helps either way, but it is cool to know.
Pinzi,
How was the swap? Complicated, requiring lots of modifications? Does it lay over like the D24T, so the oil pan can be better used? That would definitely be a consideration, we’re i keeping it!

FOR SALE: 1987 Pinzgauer 718M
This is the write up I posted on a different forum, for full disclosure. 1987 Steyr Daimler Puch, Pinzgauer 718M 6x6 This is one of 20 Turbo Diesel Pinzgauer’s that were imported for the US Army’s DELTA Force. I am the third civilian to own it since they were decommissioned and auctioned back in ‘10...

Gear ratio's
Hello everyone. Been a long time since I have been on here. I hope everyone is doing well. I am trying to track down some gearing info for a friend and was hopeful someone here can help out. He is looking for the transfer case, transmission, and portal gear ratios. I must be out of touch as I can on...

Re: 718 SOCOM front springs
David, I get what you are saying. I intend to remove the helper springs because I do not believe I need that much capacity on a daily basis. I really don't know when I will ever haul that much weight up front, or in general. I am STILL trying to upload a photo of the pin. As for the tires, they are ...

Re: Oils
Phil, With a fresh engine, I'd probably stay with a synthetic oil. Or see what the Volvo owners were using in their old 2.4TD On one of the threads, Prof Pinz had sourced an alternative to the "nonobtainium" Glygoyl 30.... or he and I were emailing..? :?  David, I am defin...

Re: 718 SOCOM front springs
Jim, As in my previous post, TD's do not have limiting straps. Downward travel of the axles are controlled by the diff and extension of the shock absorbers. Shortening the pins will flatten the tires for more contact, but he needs to resolve the shocks first. Any suggestions on locally sourced shoc...

Re: 718 SOCOM front springs
The shocks will be replaced soon, but I think the spring is just wound too tight, as it were. Maybe I need to shorten the bottom pin height. Also, the springs had been painted, or powder coated before it found its way into my hands so I don't know what colors they may have been striped with, sorry.

Oils
Hello all, I have been searching for info as to the preferred oils people are using in their 716/718's, and I am not having the best of luck with that. The parts supplier I used when rebuilding my motor had the following recommendations: - Rotella synthetic 5w40 (blue bottle) or - Mobil 1 0w40 Anyon...

Re: 718 SOCOM front springs
Ok, I have been trying to reply to this thread for quite some time, but I keep getting an error message & Vince doesn't know why or what to do about it. Must just be me... Anyway, my truck weights 6,940 lbs empty. I think that I gave the wrong explanation about the way the springs are "bott...

718 SOCOM front springs
Hello all, I was wondering what you all have done about your trucks having such a heavy front spring? I am seeing significant cupping on the outer 2" of the tire due to the stiff springs. It is also pretty annoying when I hit a decent "whoop" and the suspension bottoms out...with forc...

Re: Engine rebuild
Thanks! It does make sense to ask on that forum.
EDIT! I lived in Germany for six years...as a child. This presents a problem as the security questions are all in German and I can't seem to get an answer correct, even after a translation.
