Re: What was your longest trip in your pinz?
I've sold two Pinzgauers (710M and 710K) that ended up being driven from NC to AZ. Only one had a problem and that was electrical. It can be done, but FL to CA is a long trip in a Pinz.

Update: I got all the parts and tools assembled to heli-coil the holes and safety wire the bolts. The new issue...the holes are too close the the oil pan skirt. The drill chuck and body interfere with the skirt so that you can't drill straight. I'm now looking for a drill extension and a tap extensi...

Thanks guys. I'll track down the wave style washers. I may hedge and run safety wire as well. It was luck that I found the two bolts in the bottom of the oil pan. Having cheated failure once, I'm looking for an iron clad installation. With safety wiring, they do have safety wire washers that have ta...

Safety Wire Oil Pump Bolts?
I'm finally getting around to fixing the threads in the block for the two bolts nearest the drive gear. Is safety wiring these two bolts over kill? Should I just stick with lock washers and not both spendin the bucks for a safety wire kit. After having both bolts fall out into the oil pan, I'm conce...

Engine Thread Repair
I tried to reinstall the two bolts that backed out from the oil pump. I found that the first one has the threads stripped out from the block. The one that stripped is the one of the holes near the gears with the locating sleeve. Also, the other hole appears to have threads intact, but they seem a li...

I sold 2 Pinzgauers (1 710M and 1 710K) to two different guys in AZ. They both flew in to NC and drove them home. The only problem was with the first one that had the Molex connector go bad, but thankfully he was only a hour away from Swiss Army folks in Arkansas. Go figure. You didn't say...710 or ...

Update: Much to my surprise, there were no broken bolts. However, the two bolts closest to the drive gear had backed out and were lying in the bottom of the oil pan. I don't recall the specifics of when I reinstalled the pump, but I might have re-used the original lock washers on these two bolts. I ...
