Re: Motor oil

15W-40 mineral oil works for me. I tried 10W-40 but found it to be too thin, making loads of smoke with a cold engine and getting through about 1 litre every 300 miles. Avoid synthetic oil.

Re: EMP Resistance??

A pinz would be a great getaway vehicle from cops armed with this device:

Re: Speedometer Sticker

I was told you can get it off with petrol. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

Escape route

This is something I hadn't thought about until today. I reversed my 710K and hit a branch which broke my rear window. It shattered into a million pieces. So, I called Autoglass and they sent a guy who replaced the window with laminated glass. He said that laminated would be better because next time ...

Re: tranny oil leak....

I also have that leak. It doesn't drip at all while the vehicle is stationary even after several days, but if I clean it up and go for a drive it's wet again. Keeping an eye on the oil level...

Re: Stuck oil fill plug

Two week later and it's still stuck. I tried the hammer and chisel suggestion, and it really felt like it would work, but all I managed to do was take a chunk of metal out of the plug. So, I ordered come screw extractors and a cheap 1/2 inch to 3/8 inch socket reducer and soaked the plug in WD 40 wh...

Wow - only a few minutes since I posted the question and suggestions coming in already. Gotta love this forum!

Chris - did you drill the plug to use the extractor or was the existing hole enough?

Stuck oil fill plug

While changing the oil in my wheel hubs I found that one of the oil fill plugs was stuck. So, I thoroughly cleaned out the inside of the hex hole with a small screwdriver, got a 10mm hex key with a half inch socket drive and used a hammer to firmly seat it as far in as possible. Then I attached a 70...

Re: Speed doesn’t kill; slowness does

If my pinz was in a crash, I'd rather the impact happened at the rear than the front.

Re: Maxtrax

OK - good to know. Looking at the parts manual I can see that I used M10 bolts. I didn't notice any inserts.

I don't know why they chose to tap M12 holes and then fit M10 inserts.

Re: Maxtrax

They're standard M10 coarse bolts that screw into threaded inserts in the drum. If these are missing, don't try using an M12 coarse bolt as it has the wrong pitch An M12 bolt won't fit into an M10 hole regardless of pitch. The bolts on the top of the side aerial mounts definitely work. My brakes fa...

I don't know if there are any specifically for that purpose. The ones on the side aerial mounts do the job.

Mmmmm GT85

It's that time of year when I prepare my pinz for the winter by getting a can of GT85 and spraying the areas that might be susceptible to rust. Mostly the interior at the rear, in the corners and along edges where moisture may lurk. For those not familiar with GT85, it's a water displacement oil sim...
