Identifying hardware
I sheared a hexagon bolt when removing a part. It's in the Pinz parts catalog as "sechskantschraube M6x12 DIN 933-5.8." It looks pretty common, and I'm assuming that's kind of like our SAE or AN/MS numbers. But how would I identify it at the hardware store? SAV doesn't list them.

Fuel tank leak
This weekend I decided to fix the seep at the bottom rear of my fuel tank using a fiberglass and epoxy patch sold by NAPA for fixing leaking fuel tanks. The seep became a drip during the prep, so I waited until the tank had stopped draining and applied it. The epoxy didn't cure, so I took it off aga...

Battery charging
My Optima red top batteries have been slowly losing their ability to hold a charge, down to barely a week. After searching through the threads, I found one where somebody had installed a Soneil 24v 1.5a constant current charger (btw, his e-mail address is no longer valid), so I ordered one. It came ...

900.4230 crush washers
The parts manual refers in many places to these crush washers for the oil drain plugs, the fuel tank drain plug, the transmission drain and filler and level check plugs, and others. If these are commercially available through a car parts store like NAPA, does anybody know of a part number? Also, som...

sticky choke cable
JerBear, what exactly is the problem? Is it difficult to move in or out for its full length, or does it seem to be hanging up? Does it seem to have too much "cushion" (spring) when being returned to the closed position?

I've never changed the fluid, but I've had it for just a year. In that time, I've put very few miles on it -- just enough to keep oil splashing around the innards. I've never had a problem or a difficulty with any of the mechanicals during that time. I read the other posts about fluids and changing ...

4WD won't engage
Had the Pinz out to the range this morning and since it's a dirt road, I engaged 4WD and the light came on. Made a right 90 and a left 270 on gravel at the parking spot and stopped. Backed up a couple of feet. Noticed that I hadn't shifted out of 4WD before stopping or backing, so I put the lever up...

Fuel with ethanol?
When I bought my Pinz, the owner told me not to use anything but unleaded fuel without ethanol, and to add a lead substitute to that. It looks like fuel without ethanol is going to be going away in the near future as more states pass legislation to require ethanol to be added. Has anybody been using...
