Jim, are there any pros or cons with the US version? That's what you have, right?

It didn't get any bids, start price was $7k. Surely that was a good deal?

Generally speaking yes you can, just remember it should carry no more than one half of the rated 12 volt amperage. i.e. if rated for 12vdc @6amp rating for 24vdc would be no more than 24vdc @ 3amp. There's some confusion creeping into this calculation. If a switch can take 6 amps, for example, then...

Definitely worth checking out the inventory at Ramona Motors. They have quite a few there right now (I drive past every day). I bought my 712 there last November. I must have gone by there about ten times before I picked one out, and they were always very open about explaining the pros and cons of e...

I must be the biggest klutz. You would think changing those gaskets would be a five-minute job, but I spent most of last night buggering it up. I used some red spray-on sealant that advertised itself as being "high-tack". But it didn't really set up right, and allowed the gaskets to "...

Re: electronic speedo

It was flashing test and dropping back to '0' MPH over and over. Morris Those speedos do a self-test when volts are first applied. The display says "test" and the needle sweeps to full scale and back again. Then it displays the miles. I suspect you must have a dodgy connection to ground o...

Valve cover nut - how tight?

I replaced one of the valve cover gaskets with a rubber one from Scott (cheapest thing I've purchased so far for the Pinz). That put an end to the spectacular pyrotechnics of oil burning off the exhaust. The manual doesn't give spec for the torque on the nut. So how tight is it supposed to go? Two d...

Thanks Dennis. That's exactly what I needed to know.

Mine is hooked up wrong, as I thought. Easy to fix in the morning.

No problem decoding your English (being from Belfast myself).

Many thanks for the quick reply.

Anyone know the pinouts of the SAV tacho?

Anyone happen to know which pin is which on the VDO tachometer? Mine is reading low, and I found that only two wires are hooked up. The terminal closest to the drivers side is connected to ground. The next one is connected via a resistor (in white heatshrink) to the coil, and the third one is not co...

This is an interesting thread to me, as I just bought a 712M with the TD tranny at Ramona Motors (thanks Michael). One thing worth mentioning about the TD transmission is that the "gaps" between some of the gears are different than the standard transmission. Going from 2nd to 3rd in the TD...
