ambulance...

I've had a 712W (with the taller than normal "ambulance" box) for 7years, and average 11 mpg with it. ...Jim M. That 712 Ambulance looks like it would make a very comfortable removable camper. Looks like you could put camper jacks on the side and have an open bed truck or put a soft cover...

difference in the drive ratios?

I was reading last night in another thread here, I think it was about the 4500 RPM indicator, that the top end speed of the 712 was lower than the 710 I guess because of a difference in the drive train gear ratios? So if you are going to use it a lot over the road, the 710 would have that advantage?...

Just speculating...

Could something have been frozen solid that subsequently had thawed just enough to work better?

Simple answer...

Well, I don't yet own a Pinz (yet...), but I have worked with electronics for a few decades, so... (I am assuming you have a 24V negative ground system on a Pinz, is that correct??? Not positive ground is it???) Since the 24V Pinz electrical is really two 12V batteries in series, you could easily an...

Check out AircooledTechnology tesing of oil...

For what it's worth you ought to read some of the stuff over at AircooledTechnology. I believe Jake is probably one of, if not the, world's expert on high performance aircooled engines. Most of his work has been done on very high performance VW Type 4 motors, but he also owns and has done a great de...

Fuel mileage between 710 and 712

All things being equal, I would expect the 710 to get better MPG than the 712, but all the tech specs listings I've seen list them as being equal. Seriously got the bug to get a pinz, leaning toward the 710, but the 712 size is also tempting. I guess the downside to the 712 is 50% more tire and brak...
