Re: 710 transmission noise?

Hi Yannick. I'm In Culver City and would be happy to compare noises. Just remember, a Pinzgauer is only quiet when it's broken or parked.

Re: Rear, DS, taillight Panel

The schematic shows the wire going to the starter so you would need to have the battery disconnect key in place but not the ignition switched on.

Re: Rear, DS, taillight Panel

My truck had a 24V connector there. On the schematic it is marked battery charger socket - optional.

Re: OT: Smoked Ribs

The ribs looks mighty tasty. I've cut back to only two smokers, and the one I use the most is an off brand big green egg kamado style I found for $250 on craigslist, but my Smokin Tex is great for fish or cheese.

Re: Hard to start....

Could be old fuel hoses. They dry out and crack at the ends, letting in air and draining gas back to the tank. If it takes longer to start the longer your truck has been sitting and you've never replaced the hoses, it might be time.

Re: Rear step for sale

USPS Standard Post would be $44 for 40 pounds coast to coast. They usually have the best price on packages up to 70 pounds. My ex inlaws moved from Alaska to Arizona (hows that for a climate change) primarily using the Post Office.

Ed - I think anyone who has survived a panic stop in a pinz is still praying for better brakes. What is the appropriate prayer?

I got lucky and had an extractor that fit without drilling.

Re: Stuck oil fill plug

I had the same problem with one of the differential plugs and managed to get it out with an extractor after a long soak with SiliKroil penetrating oil. Once you finally get it out, put some anti-seize on the new plug to avoid a repeat occurrence.

Re: Street legal: front marker lights & replacement speedom

Sorry, it's been a couple of years since I added the lights and I don't recall why I picked that location. There are a lot of places you could install them that would work just fine.

Re: Street legal: front marker lights & replacement speedom

The wiring for the 12V LED side marker lights is simpler than you think. Connect the existing headlight running lights wire to the positive lead on one LED. Run a wire from the negative lead on that LED to the positive lead on the second LED, then ground the negative lead on the second LED. Whether ...

Re: Haflinger Handout

I made a poster board for my pinz for a car show a couple of years ago. It's not nearly as fancy or detailed as Dan's booklet, but it saved me from having to answer the most common questions.

Re: 17 Inch Rims: Pros and Cons

Tubeless tires work fine on the stock rims. The 5 x 160mm bolt pattern is very uncommon and will limit your choices in replacement wheels, or at least drive up the price.
