Re: Halifinger Tires

Ebay has them listed at the moment. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tire-Maloya-165 ... zB&vxp=mtr

Austrian parts suppliers may have them as well.

Re: Pinz and Others - Mount Airly - Blue Mountains Aust

I just watched these vids a few days ago...and again yesterday, that was some pretty impressive off-roading but that track was pretty hard on those two Pinzgauers. I wouldn't want my diff casing dropping onto the rocks like that and if I did I would have been straight out to check it. What baffled ...

Re: Clutch howl after getting wet?

As John mentioned the hole is there to allow any oil that gets past the seals from either the gearbox/diff or engine to drain away and not soil the clutch. Normal road vehicles may not have a plug to go in there but most proper 4wd vehicles do (dont know about a Pinz). Certainly my 101 and series la...

Re: Clutch howl after getting wet?

When you are going to be wading, then put the wading plug in - do it before you leave on a grip and take it out when you get back. However unless you were stopped in the deep muddy water I doubt you would get much crap in the bellhousing area with the wading plug not in. Last year I waded this pool ...

Re: more oil dripping than i would like

Do you apply gasket material around the return tube ball seal? Not quite sure what you mean there - I assume you mean the large rubber seals that seal the rocker oil return tubes where the tubes go back into engine block. If surfaces are clean you do not really need sealant on them as they squash u...

Re: more oil dripping than i would like

The trick with the rocker cover gaskets is to glue one side - either to the rocker cover or to the head - if not they will move around and you will often tighen them up in the wrong position and leak. I also found the cork gaskets are not good as when the cover is torqued up the cork gets squeezed o...

Re: Tracking down a sound...sounds like chain links clinking

What you mean the fluid change procedure? At its basic - loosen filler plug (to ensure it will undo), put container under drain holes and remove drain plug - refill as per normal. Is there any specific component you have an issue with? The clunking could be simply the suspension going to full extens...

Re: more oil dripping than i would like

Only do it if you really feel you need to - like all things there is more to it than it seems - all the tin work and other bits and pieces can be a pain to do.

I have had mine in and out twice and I really would prefer not to do it again.

Re: more oil dripping than i would like

As mentioned the push rod seals where they come out of the block - engine out but only because the bodywork prevents moving the barrels/heads far enough out of the way. The thick rubber seals will normally be split so you can see if they are damaged. Also as mentioned the oil return from the rocker ...

Yes before doing anything on my steering I always make it up so the new stuff lines up the same as the old - has worked to date.

Re: Car show Pinzgauer/haflinger info signs?

Thanks Dan - was a bit reluctant to post up with appropriate accreditation but I thought why not as long as I did not take credit.

I have never used it but it is a nice document to give an overview of Steyr etc.

I now know who to reference it too :D
