Re: Sluggish braking

Your issues are also symptomatic of the rubber brake hoses de-laminating on the inside not allowing fluid through and causing brake pressures to increase without much braking effort.

Can you knock up some disk brakes for the front of my haflinger? After your great effort here, the haflinger should Easy Peazy.

Brake disk - brake rotor are the same thing and the term can be used interchangably. The term rotor comes the fact that it rotates with the wheel.

Re: Fuel types

If it needs 97 RON then compression ratio must be up around 10:1 which seems off for a mil vehicle which are usually designed to run on any crappy old fuel out in the field. I do not know Volvo engines at all and googling doesnt give me an answer - does the B30 have aluminium heads or cast iron head...

Re: Fuel types

Lead additives are not legal here so I use FlashLube upper cylinder lubricant which has the same result without the lead.

I agree with the others - hi octane fuel is a waste unless the engine is modified with high compression.

When I was flying, the ll in 100ll Avgas stood for Low Lead (ll).

Re: My latest project - Disc Brakes for a 710/712

Thats odd as I have Mach 5 rims have normal rims not those round rims. But while the company that made the rims are still in business - I believe in another form, I had heard that they no longer make the Mach 5 rims though Landrover parts sellers like Paddocks in the UK are still selling them (and g...

Re: My latest project - Disc Brakes for a 710/712

Additionally, an interesting point is that "technically" all widened rims used if a Haflinger was fitted with the optional Diamond Tread Tyres by Haflinger Sales and Service, are illegal.....as they are banded.   Yes but technically done by the manufacturer so is legal - but if a ...

Re: My latest project - Disc Brakes for a 710/712

Yes full engineering of the brakes are technically required but a professional job like you have done would not be questioned and most authorities would just not know what a Pinz is and what they came with. Spacers are a different matter but we can legally change track by up to 50mm (some States onl...

Re: My latest project - Disc Brakes for a 710/712

I take it that wheel adaptors/spacer are legal in the US - unfortunately in Aust they are completely illegal except if a OEM fitment. Get caught with them here and your vehicle has to be towed home.

Ebay has them listed at the moment. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tire-Maloya-165 ... zB&vxp=mtr

Austrian parts suppliers may have them as well.

Re: Pinz and Others - Mount Airly - Blue Mountains Aust

I just watched these vids a few days ago...and again yesterday, that was some pretty impressive off-roading but that track was pretty hard on those two Pinzgauers. I wouldn't want my diff casing dropping onto the rocks like that and if I did I would have been straight out to check it. What baffled ...

Re: Clutch howl after getting wet?

As John mentioned the hole is there to allow any oil that gets past the seals from either the gearbox/diff or engine to drain away and not soil the clutch. Normal road vehicles may not have a plug to go in there but most proper 4wd vehicles do (dont know about a Pinz). Certainly my 101 and series la...
