Re: 4x100 and wobble nuts?

As the Haf is low speed, it shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as you regularly check them for tightness. Are your wobble nuts, flat or conical where they touch the wheel holes? Flat would be better if your wheels do not have countersinks on the holes.

Re: Christmas Pinz

Go for a drive in the snow, come back home, wash salty slush off - During the summer you check and make sure the paint good with no hole. Treat any that you find. - Use vehicle all year round.

Re: Off-roading Performance -- a comparative technique

Query on your data table:- The Mini apparently has 12 inch tyres and Haflinger has 24 inch? Neither are true of rim size, Possible true for the Haf as wheel diameter, but definitely nor true of the Mini wheel diameter. Does correcting this erro make any difference to the position of the Mini in your...

Re: Front diff harmonics

I think it is far more likely to be a slightly bent drive shaft due to slightly worn fulcrum pins. That will load a bearing on one side and cause a bit of noise which then because the shaft can go up and down, the loading will change. Lurch does the same thing, so I would guess it is quite common. Re: Sluggish braking

Brake pedal has very little play, and I have to STAND on it to stop. Capital letters for emphasis. I also learned that the pedal is not traveling far enough to turn on the brake lights, or there is an issue with brake lights... No brake lights now . I'll look at the pedal assembly this weekend. Won...

Re: Sluggish braking

Most Haflingers are single circuit brakes.... The manual does show a dual circuit brake system which I though was for the "Utility" versions which carried addition loads as standard, but might also have been a "Pathfinder" American concession. If there is very long pedal travel before hitting a "wal...

Re: Sluggish braking

Get a length of fencing wire, make a ring round one set of brake shoes to stop the brake shoes / pistons being forced out but allowing enough gap for them to move and get some one to press the brake pedal to make sure the wheel pistons move. They are prone to sticking in the bores.

Re: Are the old weber and NDIX carbs interchangeable?

Check your Carb for air leaks. Get one of those plant misting spray guns. Fill it with water and give the Carb a good misting whilst running it at idle and just above idle. If it stutters because of the misting, then you have a air leak as the water mist is getting in and disrupting the petrol /air ...

Re: New inventory of Windshields :) 9/26/2016

I think there are two different conversations going on here! One about Haflinger front windscreen / glass and another about Pinzgauer glass!! There was a Haflinger Windscreen on an Ebay link posted on here recently which might explain the comment about buying "glass" on Ebay. I could be wrong of cou...

There's no "neglected but for sale" section - so a decision had to be made! Seem to be bits of it all over the surrounding area... How long would you spend looking before you called quits?

Re: Magnetic drain plug- first drain. "Dimple"

Downside to having a "very good" magnet - you can't get all of the metal filings off, so you have to put some back in to the engine!! LOL

Plus side, the metal fillings will still stay stuck to the magnet and come out into daylight next time you do an oil change! LOL

Re: Clutch howl after getting wet?

I don't know of any "inspection Cover" on a Haflinger that allows you to view the clutch - there is a drain plug at the bottom of the bell housing which if left open when fording water / muddy water would allow that liquid into the bell housing and so contaminate the clutch plate, fill the clutch re...

Re: Looking for 712 or maybe halfy

So my American geography is sketchy but the fact someone says it would take a week in a Pinzgauer means it would be nearer two weeks driving a Haflinger AND that depends on which Haflinger you are in! I am all for it - just go in with your eyes open as to what you are letting yourself in for! There ...
