Re: SAV 1971 Pathfinder for Sale... $30k

"Nice original condition" - except for the wheels! There is one "original" Semperit 12 x 165 wheel and tyre, the rest are aftermarket and not even the vaguely original Mayola alternatives. Did they supply hydraulic bottle jacks with American Pathfinder imports or is that another "artistic licence" i...

Re: Points Gap?

Clean the Carb jets, Points = 0.4mm, change the fuel filter if it is full of rubbish. If it full of rubbish consider draining and cleaning the petrol tank as there is little else that is as annoying as having to stop whilst out to clean the Carb jets because it starts coughing and spluttering and la...

Re: Tracking down a sound...sounds like chain links clinking

The operators handbook has a chart detailing the service intervals and quantities / products to use if that's what you require. Level ground required. Basically, engine oil changes 1200 miles - engine warm, drain plug out, oil into container to be disposed of correctly. whilst that is draining, drai...

Things to look at - wiggle - tap etc, The Diff guards The axle travel limit straps The metal cups covering the Rezepa joint (CV) The pivot pins between the swing arms and the Diff mountings. Shock absorbers (covers - and possible leakage of oil causing no or inefficient damping) The various rods, jo...

Re: Portal boxes drain and fill threads sizes?

I would cut them down to the original length if you know what that is, mainly because there is oil in the hubs which is splash fed to the two bearings. If you put something in the way, you may change the distribution of the oil delivery - which "MIGHT" have bad effects on the bearings later.

Re: Soft top cleaning

Only issue you have using a steam cleaner is that you have to re-proof again if you are cleaning a canvas top. If it is plastic, then you run the risk of melting a hole in it when you get a stubborn spot!

Re: Krawl gear kicks out unless i hold in gear. Adj tips?

Make a mark on the adjustment disk near the gear leaver tower so you can always go back to what you currently have. Put it in neutral. Loosen the bolts. Hold the gearbox side of the disc still. Get someone to hold the gear lever all the way to right (looking forward from the back of the vehicle) in ...

If I didn't already have two, I would be very tempted by this - Why hasn't some one bought it already?

Re: Spare parts and tools to keep in 1972 Pinz 710

This is a general list not specifically for a Pniz, any long distance in an old vehicle that might need assistance along the way needs a tools kit and spares unless you have some other backup plan for dealing with breakdowns! At the very least, standard good set of sockets, Open / ring spanners, Too...

Definitely a Steyr Puch engine even if it is a Puch 500 or Invalid carriage and not an original Haflinger engine. Rims look like Alfa Romeo ones, but could be any of the European 98 x 4 rims... The extra light is in the Haflinger army blackout light hole so it has a cover on the inside so no hole al...

Re: Took my Haflinger Lurch to a night trials

Was a live stream, from a couple of weekends ago when I broke the exhaust system! 5th vehicle to try so quite a way into the video I'm afraid. https://www.facebook.com/100006645544319/videos/1841922679372566/ Again, was a live stream so lots of waiting before the action. https://www.facebook.com/100...

Re: Took my Haflinger Lurch to a night trials

Went to another trial over the weekend. Here's another short video of the easiest section of the day - I managed to clear it, but some of the others did not as they got stuck in the big hole because they only had 4 wheel drive and no diff locks!

Re: Took my Haflinger Lurch to a night trials

True, but the problem is the lack of power available from a Haflinger Dynastart. Maybe I will look at some "flood light LED's" which I can run instead of the head lights. It could well be that I don't need the penetration of the HID lights I have fitted when doing night trials. Just an expensive set...
