Re: replacement mufflers?
I built a "cherry bomb" silencer for Lurch - it's a bit loud as it is basically a straight through pipe, but if you are looking for something quite your biggest issue will be to find a silencer which has less than a 2 inch diameter pipes in and out. Haflingers have 1.25" pipes from th...

Glutton for punishment arn't you! You haven't even driven one of your collection yet! Who's going to do most of the work on Volvo No 3 or is that No 4? Which workshop is it going to? Maybe you should think about getting Volvo No 1 to the same place..... might get it finished then! Seriously, K...

Re: Are the old weber and NDIX carbs interchangeable?
Four stud manifold is for a Zenith NDIX 32 Carb. Same carb can be found fitted to various vehicles, MOG's, Porsche and several other I can't remember at the moment. The major difference will be in the size of the jets and the replaceable venturi, if you get one from a different vehicle. Obviously, y...

Re: Curious on wheel berrings
In which case, you have a fair amount of investigating to do in order to work out what's wrong. Get all four wheels off the ground. Spin each wheel in turn, would be good if you had either a proper mechanics stethoscope or at least a nice long screw driver stuck against your ear whilst someone turn ...

Re: Curious on wheel berrings
If you apply some heat to the castings with a hot air gun and get the casting nice and hot round the bearings, they should come out without any problems. Try to have the new bearings to hand so you can put them in whilst the castings are still hot. This means having either "proper" bearing...

Re: Volvo 2 - What not another one
Make a tray big enough to take the panel, line it with plastic so you can cover the whole panel in a citric acid solution which will remove all the rust for you, cheaper than getting it sand blasted.

Re: Road tires for stock rims?
Better than the trailer tyres as they are "All weather" tyres and they are actually designed for a powered vehicle. You Haf will still go a bit slower (top speed) on these compared to the Mayolas as those are probably 165 / 80 / 12 although they did make Semprites in a 145 / 80 / 12. If yo...

Re: Road tires for stock rims?
Those will work fine for pure road use. They won't work very well off road, but you will still be able to do farm tracks without any issues! Just don't be surprised if you don't go as fast as with other tyres as those are 145 / 70 / 12 so side wall is only 70 % of the tyre width. The original 145 ty...

Re: 4x100 and wobble nuts?
As the Haf is low speed, it shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as you regularly check them for tightness. Are your wobble nuts, flat or conical where they touch the wheel holes? Flat would be better if your wheels do not have countersinks on the holes.

What a bad bit of luck for you, when it is so close to being finished. Get better soon, so you can at least drive it once it is finished. This is probably the longest thread with the most views I have come across on the formus. Just goes to show, do something that interests others and put it on line...

What's the contraption behind the rear ladder? Two chains and bungee cord? Washing line? Come to think of it, why two ladders? What's the tube under the rear end? Storage?
