Re: EI Halflinger703AP

Is it an original pathfinder? You cold quite easily take a 703 platform and put a pathfinder front cowl on it! I haven't looked on Constantine's web site to see if they did make one, but it is also possible that some where made, but no documentation survives to say so...

Re: Colby Emergency Tire Valve

They are just another spare to have with you in case they can help and get you going again, just like having spark plugs or points and capacitor. They won't help in every situation but without them you don't have even the chance of getting going again. So if you can get your tyre bead back in place ...

Re: Colby Emergency Tire Valve

Great Idea, so I have bought 4! Keep having to run the Haf with low tire pressures, so it is quite likely the tire carcass will move in relation to the rim and rip the tubes valves in the process.

Now we wait and see it they actually turn up!

Re: 6x6?

The mini looks interesting, wonder if you can make one with just a single rear wheel? The Merc is just to big! I had thought of something along the lines of a wide vehicle so you get a couple of seats on either side of the Haflinger when it was loaded on from the rear vehicle. That way you can take ...

Re: 6x6?

Can't justify a Sprinter van big enough to put a LWB in. Plus I don't have anywhere big enough to store something that long - one of the reasons I got a Haf rather than anything else like a Pinz or a C303....

It would have to double up as an everyday car.

Re: 6x6?

I want one of those to put the Haf on, except I don't want it so long!

Anything similar, currently produced?

Re: Brake Drum Finish

I don't believe the factory did anything to them. I suppose it really depends on what you plan to do with this Haflinger when it is all back together looking like it just came from a show room? If it is too nice and shiny you will never want to take it off road and unfortunately that's where it's go...

Re: Brake system rebuild

They are fitted to a lot of vehicles. They are an easy way to provide some extra control to braking when there is a difference between laden and unladen weights. ABS systems include their own variations of the brake reduction system in order to reduce the braking force to the rear wheels when unlade...

Re: Brake system rebuild

Lurch does not have one and if I stand on the brakes hard, the rear wheels if travelling relatively slowly can be made to come off the ground! If travelling at speed, you can lock them up and produce a "fish tail" skid as usually the brakes are not absolutely even on the braking. The sprinters versi...

Re: Brake system rebuild

The unit you are referencing is a brake pressure proportioning valve. Basically 60 to 80% of the vehicles braking force is provided by the front brakes, so if you hit the brakes hard in any vehicle which doesn't have a sophisticated braking system. Then you will notice that the front of the vehicle ...

Re: Interesting Fire Suppression tool

Web site doesn't list a price, only delivery charges as far as I can tell, although the car one at 180 Euros appears to have another 30 euro charge as well, so maybe they just have either the translation wrong or the web site boxes are wrongly labelled.

Re: Is gear noise from front normal?

Thought of another possibility, if the four wheel drive selector is in just the wrong place that would give a "ratcheting" sound as the teeth slide past one another. Not sure what noise the front diff lock ring would make if it wasn't quite engaged / disengaged. Use a long screw driver and listen fo...
