Re: Canvas top repair
HH-66 glue found a lot of places on line the folks who have not had good results more then likely did not do one of two things. the surface needs to be cleaned very well with a vinyl cleaner and elbow grease. the glue needs to be applied to both surfaces and let cure for a bit then a small reapplica...

Re: Replacing front coil springs
bumber, very similar process with the exception that I use my shop press to install/remove the spring compressor in a similar fashion to the way you mention using the truck and jacks. This has been about as safe a process as I have found when dealing with these springs. As has been mentioned above t...

Re: Replacing front coil springs
yet another front spring change. I can not count the number of people who go down this road. It seems that every one of them has reported no difference or very little, myself included in this group. I even went so far as to have custom springs made but still no change, all it did was break a lot of ...

Re: Expedition imports
yep, I spoke with Scott and Steve earlier this week. The best way is the help ticket system. Sometimes they do get real busy and it takes a bit to get back but they always do.

Re: My Photobucket albums now unlocked
before they were able to lock my PB account I was able to retrieve the photos. This should serve as a reminder for any digital storage. The company can and will eventually hold your memories hostage and demand money to get them back. Save them in several places and hope for the best. I am betting th...

Re: Civilian spark plugs with pinz distributor??
If you are wanting to keep the original distributor cap and run newer spark plugs then options are limited. If you want to convert to a civilian cap, wires and plugs then Expedition imports could help you out. Might want to consider the full conversion to petronix and get rid of the points in favor ...

one of our members is pursuing a product that will help with sound and is somewhat like a plasti dip product. Will have to check and see how he is coming along with that. Hopefully he sees this post.

Re: Choke cover leak - help!
it happens when people over tighten the screws and bend the housing. A problem when folks take on their own work without knowing fully what they are doing (guilty as charged). I have learned over the years that when dealing with a soft metal and a gasket to keep the torque on the fastners to a minim...

There third mount is actually on the transmission. Not very difficult to change either.

Re: Oil api
I use valvoline VR1 20 50. great for these older engines. Same stuff I use in all my older vehicles. I was looking for a higher zinc content and the valvoline kept coming up on all the different boards for the many different vehicles I run.

Re: Broken engine mounts
can't tell you how many motor mounts I have broken, transmission mounts also. Fortunately they are very easy to change and don't require any special skills. Nothing is broken other then the mount. simply remove the two smaller bolts and the one larger bolt. support the engine with a floor jack and p...

Re: 1st ever G wagon treffen in US
You may notice a roof rack on mine. I built it just before the treffen to get a road test for noise and done tell time without a load. Worked great. Now that I am home I put my roof top tent on it. Did some highway miles and seems to be very solid and quiet.
