Re: Lost compression to #1, but no clue what the issue is

and just like that... were gonna yank the engine out again. Noticed a lot of oil below the filler neck. Checked the oil level and saw it dropped substantially with little mileage. Upon startup, i noticed a strong pressure pushing out the filler neck. Seems i have a ton of blow by. Plugs dont look ve...

Re: EFI on a haffie?

the interesting piece of current software is that it allows for a much larger learning function than in the past. Look at the Holley Sniper kits for example. The 02 feedback learning could get to a decent map as long as the learning function is long enough (and we put the vehicle through enough scen...

EFI on a haffie?

I've seen some interesting small engine efi kits out there recently. The 650 cc 2cyl motorcycle kits have me wondering about the ability to toss one onto a haffie. Anyone gone down this rabbit hole? https://www.walbro.com/products/electronic-fuel-injection-systems/ https://www.ecotrons.com/small_eng...

Wtb: civilian conversion black adapter ring

I need a replacement black ring (with hardware). I'd buy the whole cap and rotor as well if you have one laying around after a pinzssi install.

I'm in the Toronto area, Canada preferred. US is fine as well.

Re: Lost compression to #1, but no clue what the issue is

Closing this thread out. Fixed the issue with a degloss on the jug and a new set of rings. Has WAYYYYY more power now, starts instantly. Thanks to Jim for diagnosing via photos.

I replaced all the gaskets while i was in there as well. No more exhaust pop!

Re: Rotopax is making a traction board, RotoTrax

I'm not over impressed. I feel the $75 amazon X-Bull are better than these. Top traction looks fine, but there really isnt an underside to em. No real traction nubs on the underside. Its basically the outer edge only that will sink into the mud/sand and provide resistance. They will do awesome for t...

Re: Use pinzgauer civilian conversion on halffie?

It did work! Perfectly!

I converted a civilian ignition pinz to pinzssi. Had the the old distributor and kit laying around, including a pertronix.

Moved it all over to the haflinger and it works great!

I just covered the extra 2 ports on the cap

Use pinzgauer civilian conversion on halffie?

One of my halffies has a military cap, but mcgyvered civilian wires and plugs. One of the wires is shot. I've tried to MacGyver x2 and it's not working. I have an old civilian conversion for my pinzgauer laying around. The cap adapter fits the halffie distributor. Can I use the pinz civilian convers...

Re: Lost compression to #1, but no clue what the issue is

If you over reved the engine you will probebly blown out the seal on the crankchaft front or rear due to to much pressure in the engines oil reservoir . This is why it is covered in oil... the loss of compression in cyl 1 can only be 2 things..... a valve not closing or a piston leak ( pistonrings ...

Will do. Saw your e-mail. Thanks Jim!

80MM jug. I pulled rings and they appear in great shape. Ring gap is within spec. I'll give you a call around mid day

Re: Lost compression to #1, but no clue what the issue is

You are correct on the permatex. When applying, do i put a thin layer on, or significant amount?
