The epitome of a Newbie

I've had the 710M for about 8 months. Got new rubber (re-treads), new top, all the fluids changed, tune-up, and civilian ignition conversion. I've drive it pretty often, but nothing adventurous yet. I'm not sure why it took so long, but I finally rolled the top back over the cab for the first time a...

Re: Hub Steps

I bought a set from CWR. I haven't installed them yet, but they look great, and he had them in stock. He even included neoprene gaskets to be sure of proper fitment. I'll post pics if anybody wants.

Re: EZ power steering

Problem isn't me. The problem is 4 daughters and a girlfriend, each about half my size. It has a pot where you can adjust the level of assistance. When I drive it I am going to have to reverse polarity and turn it up full blast just to make sure I don't damage things due to my excessive upper body ...

Re: Tuff River Tops - Infomation Request

Great tops, as you probably found out already. My side windows are removable (the transparent part), so I have curtains inside and outside with mosquito mesh fixed in between, the windows can be added on the outside with 4 straps at the corners and hook & loop all around. Good setup, even if it...

Re: Tuff River Tops - Infomation Request

Does your top have loops like these or have they changed to just rings - can you post a close up shot? Thanks, 2-11-2014 10-23-37 AM.jpg Those rings are a much better option. Here's what I was talking about. See how the round ring is bunching up the webbing that's holding it? And also how it's twis...

Re: Tuff River Tops - Infomation Request

I recently got one of his tops. Very nicely done. I would like it if the windows were removeable, but they are not (I asked, and he said it didn't come the way). The only other thing I'd change, is to use D-rings instead of round metal rings for the cord to run through. The round ones seem to bunch ...

Re: New (to me) 710M!

....Were there any options regarding the windows like screen vs poly etc? Just thinking about getting one myself and the more we all know the better Thanks, There aren't any options listed on his website, but I imagine that Ray can do anything you ask. He also sent out a bunch of fabric samples bef...

Re: New (to me) 710M!

Only thing I would change on my top would be to have Ray make the rear window like the sides, ie: removable with Velcro. The rear gets more wear and tear than the sides, wiped more, rolled up more etc... It would be nice to be able to replace it without having to take off the whole top. Especially u...

Judging by your location and pictures, at some point you may want to speak with Ray: http://tuffriverstuff.com/covers-tops/pinzgauer-covers Such an nice truck will be calling for a sound absorbing, warm, insulated top. Welcome! I've been extremely pleased with retreads from TreadWright.com; less th...

New (to me) 710M!

Always wanted one, and finally got the chance to buy a 1973 710M that belonged to a friend of the family. It's been sitting exposed for 10 years, and hasn't been started in 4. It obviously needs work, but I'm excited about it. Here's what I'm starting with: http://i841.photobucket.com/albums/zz339/f...
