If the wire is completely disconnected from the Haflinger and is only connected to you and the sparks jump to to the haflinger then the answer is:-
Static electricity!!!
You need to stop wearing Nylon underwear!

Re: Stock military wires have capacitance?
Without being there to see exactly what happened, we can only guess at possible reasons for your experience. It was obviously getting high voltage from the coil some how. Possibly the ignition was still on and the coil was energised because the points were shut, if you then bring the HT lead close t...

Re: New inventory of Windshields :) 9/26/2016
I think there are two different conversations going on here! One about Haflinger front windscreen / glass and another about Pinzgauer glass!! There was a Haflinger Windscreen on an Ebay link posted on here recently which might explain the comment about buying "glass" on Ebay. I could be wr...

There's no "neglected but for sale" section - so a decision had to be made! Seem to be bits of it all over the surrounding area... How long would you spend looking before you called quits?

Re: Magnetic drain plug- first drain. "Dimple"
Downside to having a "very good" magnet - you can't get all of the metal filings off, so you have to put some back in to the engine!! LOL
Plus side, the metal fillings will still stay stuck to the magnet and come out into daylight next time you do an oil change! LOL

Re: Clutch howl after getting wet?
I don't know of any "inspection Cover" on a Haflinger that allows you to view the clutch - there is a drain plug at the bottom of the bell housing which if left open when fording water / muddy water would allow that liquid into the bell housing and so contaminate the clutch plate, fill the...

Phone numbers / email address are better sent via PM's! A post to say you have sent a PM might be needed if the receiver does not notice the PM link showing a message has been received.
Who knows what use your phone number will be used for?!

Re: Hi lift jack suggestions for a haffie?
That safe jack looks way of the top! 6 tons! The Haf weight a tenth of that and even if you are loaded up will not be more than 1.5 tons. Just an ordinary car bottle jack and a piece of plywood to put on the ground would do. You could make a saddle for it if you need to.

How harsh do you want us to be? :D :D Looks very nice, I take it it actually drives as well? No horrible noises from the Diffs or the gears when you change gear? The most obvious thing which I am sure you know about and are probably in the process of sorting are the rear seats. I sure you can do bet...

Re: Looking for 712 or maybe halfy
So my American geography is sketchy but the fact someone says it would take a week in a Pinzgauer means it would be nearer two weeks driving a Haflinger AND that depends on which Haflinger you are in! I am all for it - just go in with your eyes open as to what you are letting yourself in for! There ...

Re: 1971 halfinger rims and tires
I believe that they are new(ish) stock, as Mayola's are the only makers of original size / fitting tyres for the Haflinger and that they make batches of them every once in a while.
