Re: Car for expedition
I have a 712 Pinz and while I now live in a moderate climate, my past 25years was in the far north of Canada (+30 to -45C). You may enjoy the extra space in a 712, and with a little work it easily sleeps 2 in comfort. There is no heat to speak of below -5C so a auxiliary heater and insulated top are...

I am headed back to Calgary, AB from Denver CO near Oct 20. Does anyone need stuff moved across the border? And yes it will be declared, so it must be legal. Just thought there may be a local that wants to avoid a little shipping & duty. I have a 712 rear top, and a pair of front seats for sale ...

I am corrected .... the plates on several vehicles are from Quebec. The language is french, at the end he says "not in a lifetime"... but tough to understand.

Re: Govt Liq 718
I too am curious about the 718's. Is it worth the trouble to move from a 712 to a 718. What do I gain .... what do I lose? Anyone played with both to know? All VW stuff has been a disaster for me to repair, find parts and/or pay for the parts. BMW & MB have been great, reliable easy to work on ....

Jim,
Why remove rocker assbly? Could the test be performed when both valves are closed instead? How is the 10% measured?

Re: 2.7 L
Jim requires the jugs and cam be sent to him. He will then have the machining done, install rings on pistons and push pistons into jugs so it is easy to install in your garage. Others have sent him the entire engine -he rebuilds all and returns it in a crate. Parts apprx, $1800. Gaskets & misc s...

Re: Rear portals leaking
The outer hub can be easily pulled with an allen socket / ratchet. I take the hub to Dennis (Linden Engineering) and he uses a press to replace the seal. Never seen it done because the can shatter - he doesn't let anyone near the procedure. You may find a shop that has the tools to press off the gea...

I envy you guys. I could easily get away for 3 days to pay, but cannot manage the additional 6 days of traveling for the return trip. Have fun; maybe next year I'll have a tow vehicle and reduce the travel time

hydraulic Hi-lift 13lbs No rattling
I recently was shown one of these at our Treffen- and plan to order one to play with. Anyone else have experience with this lift?

We should have you on our invitation list for our Treffens. Not sure where we go next year, but you certainly would be welcome.
