Re: Ian's TGB13 6x6 (Australia)

The Cummins was just an example of other engines - irrespective of that the 300TDi is just too small and low powered for these type of vehicles particularly when you take into all the engineering needed to put them in - if you are going to go to all the effort of changing engines, the new engine nee...

Re: Ian's TGB13 6x6 (Australia)

If you are going to all the trouble of doing a conversion, the 300TDi just does not provide the grunt needed for this type of vehicle. This has been shown time and time again when Landrover FC 101s have been converted to the TDI. The standard V8 in the 101 has trouble getting it moving along and the...

Re: Fuel Pump Pressure - NDIX Carb

Thanks for that - bookmarked those links for future reference and if the pump I get does not perform I will look at them - I like that last link with the combined filter/regulator - most regs are 0-140psi and 2.5 psi is just a blip on the scale.

Cheers

Re: Fuel Pump Pressure - NDIX Carb

Thanks so much for that information - great stuff.

I have an electric fuel pump on my Haflinger 32 NDIX and I think the pressure is a bit high - I have now spotted a couple of 2-3 and 3-4 PSI on ebay so i might give a 2-3PSI pump a go.

Thanks for your response

Re: Fuel Pump Pressure - NDIX Carb

No one knows? I have heard 2.5psi but do not know what flow rate.

Cheers

Fuel Pump Pressure - NDIX Carb

Can someone tell me what fuel pressure and fuel flow the NDIX Carb requires.

Thanks

Re: Haflinger Engine Tune

In lower gears it is like a governor kicking in at 4000rpm. With the throttle flat to the floor it just does nothing but if you ease off the throttle and reapply it picks up a bit and improves. In 5th gear it is just lacking power and will no get much over 4000rpm.

Re: Haflinger Engine Tune

It has bigger valves but all this was done many years ago. Something has changed with my latest tinkering but I cannot work it out.

Haflinger Engine Tune

This follows on from here http://real4x4forums.com/PinzgauerBBS/posting.php?mode=reply&f=7&t=11706 but is a different issue so new thread. The engine is 762cc and with the standard NDIX Carb normally runs really well except for the minor idle issue when hot mentioned in the link. The vehicle...

Haflinger Engine Idle - Carb

Posted this over on the TheHaflinger Forum but thought I would also post here to pick up the Pinz and Mog expertise on the Zenith NDIX Carb. I am doing a tune on my engine and need to set the idle mixtures. I have the engine warmed and the idle mixture screws wound out half a turn and idle upped to ...

Re: Haflinger Engine Oil

The term Wt is a bit before my time but googling 30wt it it comes up as 10W30 and the oil chart has a temp range of 10c to 30c.

This might be Ok for northern climates but here in an Aust summer it will need a 40wt (or higher) to deal with summer temps. We are regularly above 40 in mid summer.

Re: Very dangerous winch mount

Now Warn sell them for their winches so I would say that they are safe if used as designed. Now the fitment on the Pinz is not as they are deigned - that are not supposed to held in with just the pin as shown in the pic. They are designed to be inserted all the way up to the hilt in a 2" receiv...

Re: Very dangerous winch mount

That is just a normal portable winch mount freely available at many 4wd shops. I plugs into a standard 2" tow receiver tow bar and if used correctly as designed is quite safe though I do agree that it does not like it is being used as designed on that Pinz. Mount is supposed to be right up clos...

Re: Haflinger Engine Oil

Good old fashioned mineral engine oil - 10w40 or the more usual 15W40. On old engines go up to #W50.

I did try Full Synthetic 5W30 once and the engine did not like it one bit - was almost as if I put water in it, so stay away from Full Synthetic.
