Re: 710k espar heater

The heater has a safety switch that is prone to nuisance trips. Remove the cover by unscrewing the knurled knob on top, and there is a button or switch to press on the back side of the heater. I've had to do that a couple of times over the years to get my heater to fire up. It's the fastest and easi...

Re: Distributer loosening...again.

I had a similar problem where my distributor would shift over time and my timing would be off. Eventually it got bad enough that the distributor popped up a fraction of an inch and no longer engaged the drive gear. The problem was that the bracket had stretched. Grind the bracket where it pinches so...

Re: Tranny mount issues

Why not just fix it the right way and get it welded back in place? I've had several similar repairs done over the years either by a buddy, or a welding or muffler shop. Should only take a few minutes and won't cost much, and then you never have to worry about it again.

Re: Hand throttle-throttle lock...

Not the original purpose for the hand throttle, but it worked great to get me home 460 miles from Reno to LA when the gas pedal came loose. It was a bit of a pain when I hit LA traffic and had to adjust the throttle and shift with my right hand. The rest of the way the locking feature let me hold my...

The tanks and the compressor are mounted with McMaster-Carr clamping U-bolts. 6" for the tanks, 5" for the compressor. http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/118/1536/=gi3spt

Re: poor man's on board air

If I'm in mud or snow that goes above my tires I have bigger problems than airing up. I'm planning to keep something over the regulator and quick disconnect to keep out mud & dirt. The tee feeds 1/8 ID tubing to the inside pressure gauge and a hose to the other two gallon tank on the driver side...

poor man's on board air

I've been meaning to add air to my truck for a while but don't think I'll use it often enough to justify an expensive system. I found a used humvee 24V compressor on ebay and got my tanks, pressure switch, check valve, pressure regulator, and gauges by buying a 4 gallon hot dog compressor with a bad...

Re: trouble shooting hesitation and lack of power

I contacted Glenn Ring when I was looking for an advance spring for my distributor. Unfortunately he only works on the cast iron Bosch distributors and won't have anything to do with the aluminum bodied ones on a pinzgauer.

Re: Hard starting after sitting

Old fuel hoses are a likely culprit. Don't forget to check the hose to the BN4 heater as well.

Not exactly. Half the voltage, double the current. Existing wires might be too small.

Re: Wiring up my Pinz for a 12 volt 4 pin trailer

When I installed LED tail lights on my pinz I separated the brake and turn signals, so in order to hook up to a standard trailer I needed an adapter to combine them. I came across a wiring diagram for towing a vehicle behind a 24V bus. It accomplishes two things - combining the brake and turn signal...

Re: Wiring up my Pinz for a 12 volt 4 pin trailer

Sounds like my adapter is similar what you are talking about. I picked up a box from Radio Shack and wired up a few relays to combine the brake and turn signals. This way I still have the pinz connector to hook up to my trailer but can use other trailers with a flat 4. http://farm7.staticflickr.com/...

Re: Worlds first

I prefer an intercom over a radio and speakers. I don't need it to be even louder inside so I got a portable aircraft intercom and noise cancelling headsets. You can power it with batteries or plug it into the 24V port. It gets an audio input from my ipod, and the intercom can mute the music when so...

Re: Bad day to be a windshield...

Kevin, I got a windshield from Dave and put it in a couple of years ago without ever having done one before. It took me more than 10 minutes, but it wasn't that hard. Removing the old one is easy even without a forklift - push from the inside with your feet and have someone on the outside catch it w...

Re: Speedometer Problem

I've been happy with the mechanical speedometer. I checked it against GPS and it's pretty accurate even though I am running larger tires than stock. I did have to fix the odometer shortly after I got the truck, and without a doubt the hardest part is getting it open.
