Re: Radial tire or original Bias ,

Welcome to the neurosis of, "What's that noise? Is that a new noise or an I just noticing it? Why did that noise go away? or my favourite from this summer, Why does that noise only happen when I place my foot there?" A load of anything makes it worse, especially if it rattles too! C...

Re: Radial tire or original Bias ,

Do you want 30.47" (245) or 31.73" (235) diameter tires? http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/tirecalc.php is a great site for comparing tire sizes. As others here have wisely suggested, which tire is readily available locally? Another thought, do you have and plan to use the tire chains? Good...

Re: Split axle boots wanted / one piece boots for sale or tr

Split boots are often used as replacements for cv joints on regular 4x4 and front wheel drive cars. When they are used before grit etc can contaminate the grease and the joint, and when they are glued and installed properly they are an excellent product. I have split boots on my 710 and was very imp...

Re: Part I, the import.

Fluid Film does a great good from what I have seen. (I know the Canadian importer.) I have 3 gallons in my shop for various projects right now. It also works as an amazing lubricant. I used it in the gears of an old Lucas wiper motor as a test. Like all products it does have its own odour. The lanol...

Re: Fuel filter and water seperator needed in Australia

How about the old series Land Rover double filter/separator set up. Inexpensive, easy to mount and filters are readily available through farm equipment dealers?

Clive

PS Just noticed UK. Check with Paddock Spares. Quick and reliable.

Re: Cooper stt or Bfgoodrich km2

I will be no help! I have BFG on my Pinz and Cooper on my Land Rover. Each are great tires! I have no preference. How do the prices compare?

Re: Muffler Development - Not far off

To check the usual running temp an infrared thermometer works well. I use one for checking the health of a catalytic convertor by comparing the temp of the exhaust pipe going in and the pipe coming out. Does it great without toasting your fingers. Measurements are amazingly accurate from a couple of...

Re: Part I, the import.

Take Vince's tire comments seriously! Military paddle tread and variations are like tractor tires, great off-road but very, very scary when you get on wet road and it feels like you are on ice. Sounds like a great truck! It must be worse waiting for it than waiting for Christmas as a kid! Enjoy! Clive

Re: molex connector and dielectric grease

Dielectric grease is always a good idea. Depending on where the connector is and how exposed to water and dirt it will be you might want to even shrink wrap it. I was amazed to find out how large the tubes are being made now. They come off easily enough with a pocket knife if you need to get into it...

Re: snow plow for 712

Have you considered a drag behind plow? With chains and the pintle hitch an old style farm plow/grader might do the trick. It will also make the truck less prone to damage from plow impacts. It sounds like you have to nice a truck to beat it up. That's what Chev's are for. Do I sound like a gu...
