Re: How to create a 12 volt system from a 24 volt system?

I have a 24v Landrover 101 but have many 12v accessories and indeed the ignition which is full electronic also now is 12v. With no winch involved there are two ways to provide power 12v power - first is to use an equaliser (very expensive) between the two batteries in the 24v battery pack and then t...

Re: Electric heat

I am not familiar with the Pinz - can a larger alternator be installed? Certainly my Haflinger needs more power and I am looking at installing a secondary alternator for trips where more electrical power is needed. My Landrover 101 has a 90 amp 24v alternator so would run of those electric heaters n...

Re: Sudden Low Oil Pressure

The 123 Ignition is the Fiat 500 model. It uses the dissy drive as a crankshaft sensor and the little computer inside has about 16 reprogrammed ignition maps and a wasted spark coil pack. It is not longer in my car (I still have it) as it was setting ignition too far advanced and even on a dyno, it ...

Re: Sudden Low Oil Pressure

John suggested I post up some pics of my oil pressure indication arrangements. I have the older style oil filter system but have three ports available for sensors. Pic of the oil filter/senders http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/gazzz21/Forum%20Posts%20Album/P9080115_zpsb454767a.jpg You can see ...

Re: Polymer Composite 24V electric heater

That unit requires serious power :( Why not a fuel burning heater like some Haffies have. You can get small self contained units that burn diesel (a bit safer) that have their fuel tank built in. A tank full of diesel will last for days. You also get petrol burning units that are plumbed into your f...

Re: power inverter question

Definitely do not tap off one battery - the charging system will detect the power drain try to charge the system which then results in the battery not powering the inverter will be over charged. You can buy equalizers that can manage this but are very expensive. Alternatively you can use a 24v to 12...

Re: Pinzgauer articulation

Have a look at Youtube vids of the Landrover LR3/4 which is considered the best mainstream 4wd available. They do not have much articulation and have wheels in the air all the time and rely on their traction systems. The Pinz is no different - once their traction systems are engaged articulation is ...

Re: Replacement Lights for Haflinger

I have H4 Halogens in my lights. They are 60/55w and I have not have had any issues. Low beam is very close to the front but Hi beam does show up the distance OK. Not the greatest lights but work OK. My reflectors are not the greatest and maybe need recoating. http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e334/...

Re: Haffie Engine Issues

CAUTION - VERY LONG POST I have been spending a bit of time with my engine builder and doing some "forensic" analysis of the damage and why it has happened. The undamaged No2 cylinder shows that the mods done to the engine were sound. These were, the installation of a 87mm big bore VW kit...

Re: Haffie Engine Issues

I have sent a message to Leo who has in the past provided me good advice on my carby - my main issue is that I have spent about 10 hours searching on the web for the Mahle piston I have and have not found it. If I cannot find it, it will have to be different pistons and associated barrels but I am n...

Re: Haffie Engine Issues

As I am mid way rebuilding a Rover 4.6 V8 I have an on going dealings with a local engine builder. He said that the engine has been running for a time with advanced timing - new that fixed previously and that while there may have been inlet valve impact this time around it looks like it has been hap...
