Re: Lost compression to #1, but no clue what the issue is

Thats great to hear :D I am surprised it was that though with a relatively new engine but these happen. I hope you did both cylinders though.

Now go out and enjoy - I just did a 100km drive yesterday out in the country and while slow was a great drive.

Re: Use pinzgauer civilian conversion on halffie?

Magic - all you need is a dual output wasted spark coil pac :D . As both spark leads fire at the same time, on a 2 cylinder engine you do not need a cap or rotor - fires just on the points - but fires both cylinders at the same time.

Re: Use pinzgauer civilian conversion on halffie?

Of course if you use a wasted spark coil you can run a Haflinger engine without a rotor or dizzy cap - just put the cap on to keep the dirt out.

Re: Lost compression to #1, but no clue what the issue is

Head was rebuilt. Valves should be fine. Make Sure piston is not fractured under the rings. Hi Jim - yes something to look for - my first engine failure just just cracked pistons, where in the second failure was a crack in the piston under the rings. Engine ran fine on one cylinder but the other wa...

Re: Lost compression to #1, but no clue what the issue is

While you may have revved your engine very high, it would not have over revved if in gear (even in first). Do you still have a governor? I dont and I never get anywhere near max 5200RPM. As Heinkeljb said that if the air went into the crankcase when you pressurised it, it most likely went down past ...

Re: New Tires 315/75r16

No my wheels run 6 wheels studs per wheel - I guess your comment comes from the fact that in my pic three lug nuts are visible due to their brown colour. On the 101 three of the lugnuts are of a standard style and you cannot see these as the are close to the same colour as the wheel. The wheel step ...

Re: Lots of cheap heaters popping up

Ah yes- rig up all the nice plastic "MADE IN CHINA" stuff you can to your specialized Austrian truck- what a brilliant- and quintesentially American thing to do. I'll be waiting for the "So my Pinzgauer burned down but I don't know why..." post. I don't understand the mindless m...

Re: Lots of cheap heaters popping up

To avoid a second fuel tank, I would consider a gasoline version as was the original in my 710K. Are they not made or is sticking with gasoline a foolish endeavor? I have not seen a petrol version of these cheap ebay heaters - all diesel. I used to be aircrew in a navy aircraft with twin radials bu...

Re: Lots of cheap heaters popping up

Hi Vince, here in Australia a couple of people have put the 5kw version in their Land rover 101s - so about the same size and layout as a Pinz. Probably a good move on getting the 2kw version as the 5kw in the 101 heats it up the rear almost instantly and only needs to run a few minutes to heat up e...

Re: Buying this monstrosity...1983 Pinzgauer

My personal opinion would be to buy a somewhat stock Pinzgauer if you wanted community support. I would have hoped that if the OP did buy this vehicle even though it is not liked, the "community" would offer as much support as is possible to support the OP and his vehicle. Pretty poor for...

Re: Haflinger engine ?

Well it is a pathfinder....so the engine should be in the us somewhere? Not necessarily - Pathfinders were sold in other countries - including here in Australia. The Australian Capital Territory Government used them as small street washers and street sweepers. While there are not a lot here,...
