Re: What do you think of this 710M ?

$24.9k USD seems a bit high for an M, but I don't know your local market. Underside looks pretty clean. It's probably been repainted at some point. Engine sounded normal. Take it for a drive at highway speed and check for driveline vibration, especially a low-frequency (less than 1Hz) vibration that...

I try to make it a part of every drive to engage all three locks to keep things free and tested.

Re: Heater ground connection

Thanks, David. Sad that it introduces a parasitic load on the battery, meaning when the main disconnect is turned off that the battery isn't truly (completely) disconnected.

And yes, the heater is off.

@John, this is the standard gasoline-powered heater that's just behind the left side front seat.

Re: Noise reduction with intercom

Can you comment more about which model Rugged Radio product you're using and the icom connection? I'm also looking for a good solution on this, and would want to interface with a Yaesu radio to allow both intercom and HAM comms. Our team generally moves as a pack, and comms are primarily over 2m rad...

Re: Speedometer/odometer calibration?

Rather than re-gearing the speedometer itself, have you considered a gear box ratio adapter...? https://speedometercablesusa.com/gear_box_adapters.html YES! That's exactly what I was hoping for. Now....do you know if they'll have any idea what Pinzgauer is, or is it the same as something more commo...

Re: Speedometer/odometer calibration?

Thanks. Given that the odometer is also pretty fast, seems like a gearing question, and unless the drive gears in the transmission can be changed, it'd mean that gears in the odometer would have to change. Anyone happen to know if the speedometer section of the speedometer/odometer is direct-drive f...

Speedometer/odometer calibration?

Has anyone embarked on recalibrating their speedometer/odometer? My speedo is about 9% fast and odo is about 13% fast.

Of course I could take it to a shop, but I'm wondering about DIY options.

Re: Maloya tires

LT255/85R16 tires can be mounted on the stock wheels (rims). Note that the rim design does not have the bead retaining ridge.

They are like the bottom profile (pictured below), whereas most modern rims are of the upper profile.

Re: 76 Pinz 710k Highway Travel

Welcome to the family, Bob! A few thoughts on your experiences: On the DS oil leak, try to get everything nice and dry so you can carefully ascertain where the oil is coming from. In my case, I actually had a mis-machined fill port plug on the DS portal that was leaking. If it's truly from the weep ...

Re: Exhaust wrap

Hey yall, I am always looking for a way to reduce noise level and especially heat in the cab and am considering using exhaust wrap on manifold etc. the claim that it can reduce radiant heat by 50% would be amazing especially considering I was driving around yesterday in +40c. Among other claims it ...

Which AFR meter did you use and how did you connect it into the engine? Do you use two sensors, or just one?

Re: Maloya tires

I keep the Maloyas for when I want to have a classic parade look for the truck.

For driving, though, I went with Falken Wildpeak MT01 LT255/85R16. After much research, I found (as others have) that this is the sweet-spot size.
