Re: Rear Seating

I am guessing the requirement for a bench seat is because there are 3 people who want to sit in the back? Why not go for the original Haflinger design of two seats facing backwards, i.e just behind the driver and passenger? A bench seat will be difficult to say seated on when going round corners or ...

Re: Brake system rebuild

They are fitted to a lot of vehicles. They are an easy way to provide some extra control to braking when there is a difference between laden and unladen weights. ABS systems include their own variations of the brake reduction system in order to reduce the braking force to the rear wheels when unlade...

Re: Brake system rebuild

Lurch does not have one and if I stand on the brakes hard, the rear wheels if travelling relatively slowly can be made to come off the ground! If travelling at speed, you can lock them up and produce a "fish tail" skid as usually the brakes are not absolutely even on the braking. The sprin...

Re: Brake system rebuild

The unit you are referencing is a brake pressure proportioning valve. Basically 60 to 80% of the vehicles braking force is provided by the front brakes, so if you hit the brakes hard in any vehicle which doesn't have a sophisticated braking system. Then you will notice that the front of the vehicle ...

Re: Interesting Fire Suppression tool

Web site doesn't list a price, only delivery charges as far as I can tell, although the car one at 180 Euros appears to have another 30 euro charge as well, so maybe they just have either the translation wrong or the web site boxes are wrongly labelled.

Re: coffee cup holder research :)

Self levelling isn't going to stop the problem of "bounce". As Gary pointed out, even with a lid, the coffee still comes out the hole! Self levelling would work well on a relatively smooth road going round corners, but pot holes or off road - only a completely sealed lid or at least a stra...

Re: coffee cup holder research :)

Is there a boat designed one on a gimble or something? That might work better at stopping the spills....

Re: coffee cup holder research :)

Just remember that the Haflinger is a very "bouncy" vehicle, cups of coffee might not remain full very long!

Nice to know your priorities are in the right place!! :D

Re: Is gear noise from front normal?

Thought of another possibility, if the four wheel drive selector is in just the wrong place that would give a "ratcheting" sound as the teeth slide past one another. Not sure what noise the front diff lock ring would make if it wasn't quite engaged / disengaged. Use a long screw driver and...

Re: popping and stumble

Sounds like you have fuel problems as well as all the other issue you normally face when getting a "new" to you vehicle! Have you made sure that you have at least one fuel filter before the pump and possibly one after if your tank is really full of crud. Next take the top off your Carb and...

Re: Is gear noise from front normal?

The effort of getting into the hubs to see if you are missing a tooth would be well worth it, as you can carry on till you take the Rezepa joint out and dunk it in a petrol bath. Start moving things around to wash out all the old dried on grease which will never have been cleaned out before! When I ...

Re: Is gear noise from front normal?

I would say NOT. Most likely problem area from what you describe is the front "Repeza" joints (universal joints). You are supposed to take them off every so many miles and clean and re-grease them - but I don't suppose many people do it as often as the manual says! It involves taking the t...
