Re: Battery not charging

If you have a suitable garage you can take the battery to, they can do a drop test on it to tell you if it is good or not. Drop test means putting a heavy load on the battery and measuring the voltage. If it drops too quickly, then battery is faulty! Good that you appear to have found an issue and t...

Re: Battery not charging

Time to make use of a multimeter! You need to check you haven't got a short circuit. One of the things you could do would be to disconnect the wiring from the regulator that feeds to the dash and setup a mini separate wiring harness. The ignition can be left to run off he battery - it will take a wh...

Re: ignition switch replacement or mod?

Biggest problem you have is finding a wiring diagram which actually matches your Haf! A lot of Haf's over the years have had "modifications" to them including wiring additions / changes and I bet you they weren't documented! So once you have a rough idea of the wiring from one of your wiri...

Re: Battery not charging

Where have you put the circuit breaker? The original civilian version has a 25 amp fuse on the output wire coming off the regulator. I think for most people and the way they use their Haflinger's, what you have done will work perfectly well as long as you continue to have a properly charged battery....

Re: ignition switch replacement or mod?

Another way to deal with it is to take the start function away from the old switch and put a start button in and just leave ignition running through the original switch. Only issue would be where to put the start button? Make another hole in the dash to take it Make a bracket to hold the switch off ...

Re: Battery not charging

Part of the problem with fitting the 30 amp regulator is that when you turn everything on (Lights, wipers etc), and possibly have a slightly flat battery when you do so, the Dynastart will generate more power. If the regulator limits the voltage rise, it has to allow more current to make the power r...

Re: Battery not charging

You have hit the nail on the head fair and square - 19 volts is too much - what is happening is that you are boiling the battery dry and that warps the plates. Warped plate can touch each other and you lose the battery's ability to provide electricity. So what you need is a replacement voltage regul...

Re: Dynastarter

You can alter carbon brushes to suit different applications as the carbon is very soft.... So just find ones which are larger than what you need, then using a hack saw and a file or emery cloth just cut / file / grind them down to the required size. So your biggest problem will finding a shop that s...

Re: first drive of a Haffy

Another option is to buy the memory foam pads they use for wheel chairs, they fit and have tie on laces which means you can just put them on top of your existing seat pads and tie them to the uprights and they give more comfort. Only down side is they increase the height of the seat base and if you ...

Re: first drive of a Haffy

Not without doing major work on either the shape of the gas pedal or the mounting point. Yes, gas pedal operated by the Toe with the heel on the floor works well, the brake pedal is very high up and you just have to get used to lifting your whole leg up in order to stamp on the brake, but to be hone...

Re: Would a haflinger fit on a standard UHaul car trailer?

Or you could go the other way and put it inside a Van, something like a long wheel base high top Merc sprinter or Ford transit.

Plenty of video on the net showing people putting their Haflinger inside a van.

They have a rubber seal on them to A; Keep the mud and Yuk out of the bearing and B: to keep the grease in the bearing.

So yes they are correct like that.

Re: Electric steering for 710/712s

Don't forget converters have their own overheads. Which ever way you do the conversion! If you go from 12 to 24 then you increase the the current draw on the 12 volt side if you want to increase the current available on the 24 volt side. Going the other way produces more heat for a bigger current dr...
