Re: Battery not charging

Very first thing to do is obviously make sure all the wiring is good and any joints are clean and tight. There are various checks you can do to decide what is not working. Has it ever charged the battery? If this is something that has just happened, then maybe it is time to replace the brushes. If i...

Re: Seat Belts

Originals would have been manual adjust belts along the lines of those fitted same era VW beetles. Having said that, any modern automatic roll up /arrest seat belts would do - safety being important and new webbing would be preferable to 40 year old webbing. There was a thread on the yahoo group whi...

WANTED! Zenith Carb manifold

I have managed to break pre-heat pipe on Lurch as I drove back from Holland the other weekend. It has broken right at the joint to the square manifold / Carb mounting block. It does not look like it is going to be an easy repair as the original pipes are brazed in and if I heat the area enough to me...

Re: Cab roll cage - bolt in or weld?

Put lots of goo on the area which is going to be under the legs, then install whilst wet. The goo will be squished out along with any air and so seal under the legs better. When dry you can seam seal round the edges.

Re: Rear Seating

Never seen a bench seat in the back of a Haflinger, but that is probably because they already have to pop-up back seats.

Do you have any pictures of one with a bench seat? Might be an interesting mod, but I wonder what you do with your feet?

Re: Fuel Problems

Well, the first place to start with fuel starvation problems is the petrol tank. The petrol cap has holes round the outside edge of the gasket to allow air to get in, but also prevent fuel from splashing out. So check the lid by loosening it by half a turn and see if you still get the same symptoms ...

How about combining the two? Set up a business doing restorations, and installing Sat nav / communications / etc? By the sounds of things, finding and keeping a good labour force will be your biggest headaches! Pay them well and give them nice sounding titles might help...Engineer instead of technic...

Re: Intro from Malaysia - WR7002 - C304

With the amount of work you are finally getting done, you need to be able to spend a whole week working on it.... and it will be finished and ready to drive! Even so, you are managing far more than all your previous mechanic's seem to have managed in 3 years. Keep it going, you are nearly there. John

Re: Dont jump your jeep

That all anybody usually does - add spacers and wider rims - puts more strain on the original axle system!.

Re: Dont jump your jeep

Appears to have been widened? Is it standard to have such wide mud guards on this Jeep?

Being widened would put more stress on original components of the front axle, making them more likely to break..

Re: 710M Center of Gravity And Trailering

If you are worried about the soft top being damaged, take it off. You can always put a cheap tarpaulin over the Pinz if you are worried it will get wet in the wrong places.
