Re: Oils

Yes, as Dave said, I researched this subject quite thoroughly and came to the conclusion that for me, REDLINE Heavy Shockproof was the best, most readily available and economical solution......mind you Australia isn't an extremely cold country As to the engine motor oil, I know some of the Volvo D24...

Re: How to jack up a 712M when I want to remove 2 tires ?

I lift the whole front or rear (all 4 wheels on my 712) by placing a garage trolley jack with a suitable piece of wood under the front or rear diff casing. The casing are very thick on the bottom (and top....same part), so providing the check straps are intact all will be fine.

Re: 718 Rebuild

I've eventually started construction of the final panel I need to make for the body......the right rear door skin. I was given an old rusted door by one of our German members, which I cut the door handle detail out of, and will weld it into the new "skin" (that will save me some fab time)....

Re: Anyone know anything about this Ebay Pinz?

Could you give me an idea of the rotor diameter for the 716/718 rotors? as well as the inner diameter if possible - just want to add them to a spread sheet I have that includes other vehicle's disc setups. Are the pads/calipers on the rear the same as the front? (I realize the front are dual calipe...

Re: Anyone know anything about this Ebay Pinz?

The "other" big problem with the 710/712 is the large PCD of the wheel stud pattern and hence the large overall diameter of the wheel stud flange. This means that as the disk rotor has to fit over this flange and inside the wheel the resultant swept area is minimal. The TD's have a smaller...

Re: Anyone know anything about this Ebay Pinz?

I spent years (on and off) researching fitting disks to my 712 and whilst I came to the conclusion it could be done it was expensive and a bit of a compromise at best. Now I have a 718 and have had the chance to fully disect it all, I see the factory obviously ran into many of the same problems and ...

Re: 718 Rebuild

Work on the body continues and although it may not look like a lot has been done the MIG and Spot Welders have been in great demand. The roof panels are pretty much welded in place (just have to spot weld the lower sides to the frame this weekend) and the rear door is completed.....I took the advice...

Re: 1st Dakar Rally

I've always loved the Dakar (Paris Dakar as it was originally called) and have watched them all since day one......TV coverage here, starts tomorrow. The Pinzgauers used to backup the Honda bike team and one year a 712 did an end over end roll .......I have a pic somewhere in my files. ...I'll see i...
