Starting truck without breather hoses
Truck started smoking pretty bad while idling. I remembered the last time this happened I removed the 2 black breather hoses and cleaned them . They get that mayonaise looking build up inside. Can I start the truck and let it run without the hoses for 20 minutes or is this bad for the truck. Thanks ...

Thank you. Am I right in assuming there's a gasket in the gear box that's bad to cause the leak. Zig

Oil leak
I've got an oil leak at bottom of steering column. Is this dot 3 fluid or 30w oil. I will order the gasket for repair but didn't know specific fluid needed. It's where the fill and drain plugs are at the bottom of the steering column underneath the removable floor plate. Thank you Zig

oil cooler removal
Today I will remove the oil cooler to replace the base gasket and the 2 O rings between the thermostat housing and the cooler. Do I need to remove the dip stick housing and if so., does it just turn ccw? Sorry if I'm over complicating things. Any info appreciated. Zig

Re: Here we go again
I didn't have a voltmeter, so I charged the batteries independently and tried to start the truck. I trickle charged the battery with the neg. terminal connected to the key switch first and no luck. I then charged the other battery and she started right up. I ordered a volt meter and will recheck bot...

Re: Here we go again
Thanks. The batteries are the only thing I haven't checked because they're 1 year old red top optimas that I purchased at the same time. I will check individual voltages as well as voltage under load and will let you know what I find. Thank you very much.

Here we go again
Truck cranks and won't start. I'll try again a week later and it may start. When it starts, it runs like a Cadillac. It has pinz SSI. I've gone through the FASTEC list to try to figure this out, without any results. If it's fuel, air or spark, wouldn't it affect the truck while it's running? So what...
