Re: Lost compression to #1, but no clue what the issue is

Can't hurt to redo the valves with a bit of "lapping" whilst you have the bits apart. I know you said you could hear the air escaping in to the crank case, but if your ears deceived you, then the most likely places for the air to be escaping is via the valves - unless you have cracks in yo...

Re: Lost compression to #1, but no clue what the issue is

If air leaked to the crankcase, then it can only get there down the barrel! So if the piston does not have a crack in it, the barrel is not scored, then it must be that the rings don't fit! Possibly you managed to get the gaps in the rings to all line up, but more likely you just have worn rings / b...

Re: Tesla 4x4 Cybertruck. The next phase of 4x4's

Your current vehicle isn't able to recharge itself off the grid... You have to carry all the fuel you need until you reach a recharging station i.e. a petrol station! I understand what you mean, but maybe recharging before reaching a "petrol station" in an EV will have to be solar or wind ...

Re: Hoop cross bars question ... and a suggestion

The Haflinger would have been selected with the option for full length canvas cover and four doors when purchased and the factory would have used the correct hoops and side bars and the main hoop would have had the bracket welded on the correct places for those short steady bars to be fitted. Mine w...

Re: Haflinger engine ?

In order to try and find an engine which you think should be the "original" engine for a Haflinger, you will have to try and find out its history. The original engine was probably swapped out when it became faulty. If it was done under warranty then it might have been reconditioned and put...

Re: Main frame central tube - - lubrication ?

I presume there is no drain plug as it would have to be on the bottom of the tube and therefore a prime candidate to get caught on something when off roading. Unless you can make a drain plug that is flush on the outside AND the inside, it would be better to park on a slope and suck the old oil and ...

Re: NDIX Carb Mixture

Just a thought,

How restrictive is your exhaust system? You could buy a "colortune" kit which has a special spark plug with a clear window in it to allow you to see the colour of the combustion flame, and then obviously to see what happens when you make adjustments.

Re: Haflinger Engine Tune

Does it hesitate if you put your foot down suddenly? If yes, it's a carb issue and that means cleaning all the jets, checking the accelerator pump, float level / fuel level. Lack of power could be down to slightly lower compression, so a compression check might be helpful. Timing could still be out ...

Re: Broken tooth on end of crank

It's a nut as already posted. You can replace it or just take it off and get a new "wing" welded on, I doubt you will want to use the hand crank very often to start the Haflinger unless you are going to allow the Dynastart to fail electrically and just provide the cooling air, in which cas...

How many of each are you cutting? Hopefully more than one, so you have some spare!

Re: 6x6

Shame that website doesn't have any more information on the 6x6 other than that page. There are now several 6x6 around, but I only know of one (in the UK) that is legally allowed to drive on the roads of Europe, All the others do not appear to be road legal even though there are pictures of them on ...
