Re: Engine Misfire - #2 not firing?
This may not be the case but your problem reminds me of a similar problem when I was younger and put new wires into my Aro (Romanian). It had an odd firing order and I didn't get them back right. It would back out of the drive but couldn't climb the slightest hill. This doesn't explain you initial p...

Re: Rear wheels locked
If you need to move it in the barn there is always the old farm trip of using a jackall (4 or 5 foot bar with jack attached) and lifting one end of the truck by the center of the bumper and then push it sideways off the jack to walk it left or right. Be certain to chalk the other axle. It can also b...

Re: Rear wheels locked
I once owned an Aro 243 (Romanian troop carrier) which came with a brilliant manual. The manual stated that whenever anything goes wrong look for the simple solution, major problems are rare. I also grew up working for a farmer who claimed that when something didn't work hit it with a hammer. If tha...

Re: Puch 300GD TD on ebay
If you have to have one there were several in Montreal when I visited Pinz Canada this summer (all soft tops, military, around $15K). He also had had one lonely 701M left. (only 2 rear seats and no tools etc. about 13000 km. A very nice project)

Re: A hello and introduction
If you compare a Pinzgauer to a Jeep or Land Rover with lockers etc added to get them close to the base Pinz specs then a Pinz is a great bargin! Add portal axles and there is no contest. Maintenance is not difficult if you have some aptitude. A good source of local mechanics to work on it would be ...

Thanks for pointing out the problem. I got out the meter and tested the posts today. I was mislead. The 2 posts are not separate. Definitely a no go! Thought it seemed too good to be true.

Re: 12v winch
Don't know how to link my reply in the other 24v discussion so I will repost here. I have a different sol'n for this problem. My 710 has two 12 volt batteries connected in series to give 12 + 12 = 24v. Each battery has 2 + and 2 - posts and only one of each is needed to wire the circuit. The other p...

Each battery has 2 + and 2 - posts and only one of each is needed to wire the circuit. The other posts can be wired in parallel to create a second circuit with 12v and twice the amp...

Re: Looking to get a Pinz
I've done the LR Discovery 2, Aro (Romanian), Series 2a LR (still have that one), GMC Jimmy (75), etc. There is only one Pinzgauer! Nothing else outperforms it. Even the Hummer guys are amazed and the Unimog crowd include you as one of the "heavy trucks" even though the wheelbase is shorte...

Try a little heat from a propane torch.

Re: Pinzgauer articulation
That's a good idea and takes care of the wheels going down, sort of, after first finding the length of the independent suspension arm, the point along its arc where the straps attach and the length to the end outer edge of the wheel. Then I will have to find the rest angle of the axle angle. After t...

Pinzgauer articulation
Started experimenting to see how much single wheel and cross wheel articulation a Pinzgauer actually has. My ramps are just over 8 inches high and there was no wheel lift. Has anyone gone further and knows the limit? (It was rainy. I was bored.)

Re: Hey! I've got leaks too!
A good old trick for cleaning brake pads covered in fluid is to soak them in gas for a few minutes. Take them out and away from building etc and light them. It may seem a bit extreme but it works. Good luck and stand back! A good can of brake cleaner would be a good start if you haven't already trie...
