insurance

I have insurance through Farmers. I just called my agent and told him I have to insure another vehicle. This one is Pinzgauer, it is Swiss. He will not be able to find it on his cross reference chart. It is listed as Styer on the papers. I have it insured for liability only, keeps the rates low and ...

OK, does anyone remember Soupy Sales or Pinkie Lee, these are from the days of live TV and from EAST of the Mississippi so I don't expect any yesses. They were kids shows when there were only three channels. ...and yes, very much in black and white. Back when phones still rang. An easy one then, ......

speedo and rear lights

The kit from SAV converts the rear lights to USA type, it keeps them looking stock and you will have red brake lights. (There was a previous post that covered various ideas to have red brake lilghts). The SAV conversion is very easy to do, took me about an hour to rewire the blackout wire to the bra...

seat conversion

I saw a write-up in one of the 4w drive mags about Mastercraft seats. Since they are local (Santee) I went to the shop to talk with the folks. They just sell seats, you are on your own for mounting. In the mag article it shows them custom mounted, but the guy said they only did that for the article....

high lift

I put the high lift at the rear roll panel up high, just fits in there with the brackets fastened to the top piece. Not in the way when entering or exiting and still very accessible. Also not very visible to the outside world.

I have been using 87 oct. gas and notice a little dieseling at shutdown, only 1 or 2 chugs, is this from not using leaded gas? If so what else am I going to notice over time, valve burn? I dont want to sacrafice the engine to save?? a little change at the pump, should I be using the addative too? Mo...

INTERIOR LIGHTS

I have a 24v fluorescent left over from my UniMog that may go into the trailer, but for the pinz I use a battery camp light hung from the crossbar in the back. I use a LED headlamp from REI for just around the camp duties. Works great and leaves my hands free when I need to roam outside, it is alway...

digital speedo

Thanks to Dave & Ron for the answer on the trip ODO, that helps the decision process. Does the speedo from SAV just plug and play or will I have to 'adapt' it to the 710M? Does one out there, in that price, range just P&P? My speedo works ok just taxes the mind to keep translating from kmh t...

Electronic speedo

I have been thinking about this mod but I have not seen any digitals that have the trip setting like the stock speedo. I may just take mine out and replace the glass and it will look like new. Is it possible to calibrate the stock one for the 33 inch tires I am using. MMMV

pinz clinic

Dave,
Thanks for hosting the event, great idea to get people together like that.
I learned things about my pinz (parts missing) and got to meet some other pinz owners and see their mods. Thanks to Jim for balancing my carbs.

Cheers,

Battery charger

Jay, That does look like the answer. Where can I obtain a charge controller like the one you have installed? I think my solar panel is only 20 watts, it is not enough to operate the cooler by itself but should recharge the battery. I have a 24 to 12 converter for the radio and CB but I wanted some p...

Battery charger

I am planning a long trip in the pinz and would like to use an aux 12v gel battery, not connected to the system, to operate a 12v cooler. I also have a small solar panel I would like to use. Is there a device to put between the solar panel and the battery to recharge it? I am not an electrical wizza...

towing with a 710M

I was amazed when I consulted the specs for a 710 and read that it is supposed to be able to tow almost 11,000lb on the road, 3,000 off road.
This 11k seems like a lot, I was thinking that 5000lb was the most I wanted to have on a trailer.

What have you, on the list, been able to tow.

Cheers,
Morris
